Poor atheists. They are so busy pissing and moaning about the Christian holiday, they totally miss the opportunity for wild and freaky pagan fertility rites.

LadyPact -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day! (3/31/2013 4:43:22 PM)

Come on, GotSteel. Even you have to have a soft spot for colored eggs and chocolate bunnies. [:D]

Happy Easter, Everybody!

And I don't think you comprehend the power of belief in greater things.

Have fun though!

The far right are in an uproar, as Google is "celebrating" Cesar Chavez instead of Easter... some are even confusing Cesar for Hugo.

Happy Easter all!

breagha -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day! (3/31/2013 5:25:28 PM)

Happy Day indeed GotSteel!

Heretic... thank you for mentioning the pagan fertility rights. Kinda what Ostara is about ( and the egg coloring etc that we all do on or around easter )

Maybe. In my house though, it sometimes takes somebody rising from the dead, for the wife and I to get a day off together

I believe that the Xtians stole Ishtar day from the Babylonians - who had a Goddess named Ishtar - among whose talismans were the egg and the rabbit.  The Xtians stole Christmas from the Romans - Romans called December 25th "Saturnalia" and celebrated it by decorating trees with lit candles.  One thing Christans are good at is stealing other people's holidays.  Except for Ground Hogs day.  Xtians made that up all on their lonesome.  If Pentacostal Pete shows his shadow - we're all gonna die by spring.  Big bowls of poison falling from the sky. The religion that copies the most rituals, ceremonies, stories and holidays from other religions is the one MOST likely to have a shred of truth in there, somewhere.

So, of course, Catholicism is a front runner.

In the "shred of truth" sweepstakes.

Is God going to get me for thinking that first post was pretty funny? I guess that is what I get for watching The Walking Dead finale on Easter.....

I also celebrated Christ's resurrection, but I'm well-rounded like that (no fat jokes or I kill ya) [:D]

Fer christs sake, grow the fuck up. Celebrating one holiday on the same day as another isn't stealing anything. My next door neighbor used to cry like a baby every year on his birthday because his sister was born on the same day and he felt she did it on purpose just to screw him over. You sound just like him.

Lucylastic -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day! (4/1/2013 8:04:03 AM)

taking away pagans, heathens, foreigners, festivals only to name them to something else in the name of christianity, might not be "stealing" but they didnt do it out of ignorance like your neighbours boy, it wasnt accidental. They did make the idols and other heathen icons worshipping punishable by death.
Hence why you find santaria/voodoo, and many other "cults, use saints as ways of worshipping their old gods. to appease the "Xtians".

I met my man's extended family during their Easter celebration yesterday and am feeling a little more well-rounded due to the nine desserts for 18 people [8D]
