ORIGINAL: jezzabelle Overdue for this? Really? WTF kind of comment is that? We should never be "overdue" for something as horrible as this, it shouldn't be something that is expected! And I will apologize right now if I come off bitchy in my response, but I live not far from Boston and I have friends that were running the marathon so it's been a stressful afternoon. The only saving grace is that my friends and family there are safe and my heart aches for those that weren't so lucky [:(] quote:
ORIGINAL: MasterCaneman I hate to say it, but we've been overdue for something like this. For decades now, we've been lucky and good at keeping the animals responsible for acts like this at bay, but sooner or later, they will succeed. God have mercy on the dead and injured, and none for those responsible. I agree with you, that was a horribly insensitive thing to say. Since when did we start expecting the regular, or occasional bombing anywhere? quote:
DesideriScuri "Them" refers to bombs. Ban "them" = Ban Bombs. Thoughts are prayers go out to the victims, survivors and all else who are scarred by this. I don't think that's what he meant; and where are bombs legal, outside of battlefield? M Sorry if it came across as insensitive. My heart aches for the dead, the wounded, and the ones who have to deal with the slowly unfolding nightmare we're watching right now. I stand by my words, we have been very, very, very lucky so far. Up until this afternoon, we could all go to a mass spectator event knowing that, for the most part, nothing like this would ever happen. A few months ago, at the range I go shoot at, we had a guest who was an instructor for an advanced shooting class in the area. He was an Israeli, and he remarked at how surprised he was to see how little we seem to be aware of how easy it is for an attack like this. He remarked about things like how the trashcans could be used to conceal explosives, how easy it would be to park large trucks near significant numbers of people, stuff like that. Nice fella, wasn't condescending at all, just surprised at how lassez-faire we are considering our position in the world. Call me insensitive, call me a jerk. I don't care. I am only pointing out the obvious here.
