Sorry. The only home remedies I have are for migraines, infected teeth, and flu. I do believe that cocoa butter is the best preventative scarring ointment I've ever seen used.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

This is not a Home Remedy but it is a great preventative. I have used it for a long time with great success

Thanks imin. I'm wondering though how soon after exposure he would need to use it. As I said, he is a landscaper, so access to running water is limited.

I would think ASAP, before any kind of rash can develop, would be best.

If one is frequently around poison ivy/oak/sumac, it might be a good idea to make a jewelweed cream or ointment, and keep it on hand so they can quickly slather some on if they suspect they've been exposed.

Thanks imin. I'm wondering though how soon after exposure he would need to use it. As I said, he is a landscaper, so access to running water is limited.

Peppermint oil and jewelweed and aloe and coconut oil and tea tree oil are all good prophylactics for poison ivy oak and whatnot, slather  up.  Remember that those plants contain oils that are highly irritating, and so you can sort of pre dilute them or grease up a barrier............

Migranes?   Eat a shitload of blueberries, I dont know it actually cures it, but does lessen it a great deal, and you can make a sort of brine of brown sugar, salt and water and it seems to help.  (it has got to be pretty strong and it is therefore yuckfuckino but...)

The blood vessel that "feeds" a migraine runs through the left palm. There's a pressure point between the thumb and forefinger that can be pressed to reduce the blood flow.

Alternatively, if you can't find the pressure point, an ice cube, rubbed into the left palm will slow the blood flow and kill the migraine however, it should also be noted that lying in a cool, dark, room while applying the ice cube is also helpful. Tryin the remedy while staring at a TV or computer screen is useless.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Usually that will work for my migraines but usually I have to take a nap also that is unless they are weather related. If they are then I just have to wait them out till the weather changes.

There is very expensive poison ivy wash called Zanfel.

It does work when the directions are followed.

Walmart seems to have a 'generic' version but I do not know how effective it is.

Ivarest for itching.
Ivy Block for preventative.
Mederma cream for scars.

Home remedies just don't do it for these severe allergic reactions. Also please be advised that you will now have a more severe reaction upon each new exposure.

I'm at the point where I need a shot of cortisone for outbreaks.

In the future, keep a bar of laundry soap in the house. The moment you return from working in the yard shower with it. Wash outer clothes in hot water and detergent by themselves. Wash underwear separately. Long socks which should be over your pants legs. Work gloves. The best thing is not to get it in the future. And never burn it. You can suffocate breathing the smoke when your airway closes off.

I can't believe I forgot this....for scars, isn't Vitamin E helpful?
