Aries83, some advice my dad gave me about wearing a suit: Don't think about it. You're still just wearing clothes. ETA: Aries83, could you get away with an open collar instead of a tie? How formal is the dress code? (I won't suggest a cravat, because I seriously doubt it would fly and it's really no less a hassle than a tie.) Size up the neck of your shirt a half-size, that's likely your issue. Then just tighten the tie to the shirt. Wearing a tie really shouldn't be (physically or mentally, but you're on your own there) uncomfortable at all...
Yes, ok I know about how women feel about suits but imagine getting up in the morning, putting a sharp, cold piece of steel to my face to do something called...shave. Jumping in the shower only to find when dried off, ok just just what suit do I have clean, a clean shirt that goes along and a clean tie to compliment.
Now how about doing this 8-10 even 20 years...day in and day out. Boooring and confining. I longed for the open collar not, that I could wear any color shirt I wanted, as long as...it was white.
