I thought I would share androticus' patented (well, patent-pending) "BDSM Legitimacy Ratio" -- it is a scientific, mathematically proven method to test the legitimacy of any alleged BDSM fetish or desire. Let's test it out on two fetishes (or alleged fetishes):
1. spanking
2. "FinDom" (financial domination)

The Legitimacy Ratio is calculated as follows, for any fetish:

LR = (# subs wanting it / # sub ads) / (# dom(me)s asking for it / # dom(me) ads)

So let's try spanking (you'll have to trust my sampling techniques... ;) ;) :

(40 subs want spankings / 50 sub ads) / (32 dom(mes) like spanking / 40 dom(me) ads)

= legitimacy ratio of 1

Now, let's apply the same technique to "FinDom" (for focus, let's look only at straight ads, male sub, female domme...):

(1 straight male sub wants / 50 straight male sub ads) / (20 dommes asking for "tributes" / 40 domme ads)

= (1/50) / (20/40)
= legitimacy ratio of 0.04

Any questions??? ;)

I have to question your samples. How did you come to those numbers?

Okay. So you have a ratio of two ratios.

1. How many male subs want a specific kink, expressed as a ratio of that number divided by the total number of male sub profiles (which you call "ads").
2. How many Dommes want that same specific kink, expressed as a ratio of that number divided by the total number of Domme profiles.

You term that "legitimacy".

Cuckolding and feminization should have very large numbers because so many more male subs want them than Dommes.

Basically, you calculated that a lot more Dommes want money sent them than subs want to send money. No surprise.

For rigor, I'd suggest you make a few changes.

1. Tell us what your samples were. Geographic area? Specific age ranges? Etc.
2. It bothers me that your numbers are so clean. I suspect that you simply made them up. What's the point of creating a calculation methodology if you're only going to feed nonsense numbers into it?
3. Legit researchers spend a lot of effort to try to ensure that their analyses are free from bias. It appears like you created an analysis technique, made up numbers that supported your bias, and are presenting them like they proved something.

So a fetish or desire is less legitimate if it is not equitably reciprocated?

How do you even go about legitimizing a ratio analysis on subjective data anyway?

Oh boy!! can someone do a ratio on the number of Fin-Dom threads to the total number...then another ratio of the number of responses each one of these threads get?

Sure you can! I know my math skills seriously suck, but my logic is usually pretty sound.

I'm fairly confident that even on its best day, Collarme could never be considered a homogeneous data source. Random sampling techniques on an unverifiable data source can't be trusted. Using a math equation, based off inconsistent variables and unverifiable data, in an attempt to justify a bias seems illogical to me.

Irrelevant since he made up his data. But impressive anyway, to hear from someone who understands stats and data.

The Legitimacy Ratio is calculated as follows, for any fetish:

LR = (# subs wanting it / # sub ads) / (# dom(me)s asking for it / # dom(me) ads)

Doesn't this imply that a woman's desires are only legitimate if they conform to what a man wants to give her?

...or, the other way round, of course, though you aren't posing your problem that way, for some reason.
