What I would like to know is why any poster would enter a Zimmerman thread, knowing it's going to be testy, and then send complaints to the moderators. I have yet to read a post (myself) that strikes me as out of bounds, and now the second thread on this hot topic has been closed.

It's an ongoing trial and a running commentary is necessary. IMO, locking the threads is not the answer unless the moderators don't want us to post on the subject anymore.

Also, complaining to the moderators (I'm really wondering who that could be) is uncalled for in such a thread. It's not a hold-hands-and-be-nice-to-each-other-subject. Rather the subject is divisive and raw.

Today is the last day for the prosecution, and I want to hear everyone's thoughts. And please don't whine to the moderators about anything.

Don't post on this thread if you are not prepared to mix it up. If someone's being a nut job, he's only hurting himself and his position.

I think the problem is that some of the people who have been moderated in the past have returned and are up to their old tricks of calling people names apparently not having learned their lesson the first (or fourth) time around.

I mean seriously, what is someone supposed to do when making factual posts and here comes Mr Troll calling that person a stupid gash?

While we have not agreed on this subject neither of us has felt the need to resort to personal attacks not everyone can do this.
In fact as you are no doubt aware there are many (on both sides of the debate) who cannot disagree without insulting the other side and without assuming the worst of them both intellectually and personally.

Due to the fact that you just pointed out, I predict a couple of people will go back on Mod-assisted vacations where they can join the "Collarme Refugees" group on FET and whine ad nauseum about "the 'special ones' and how they get away with everything while I get banned"

did anyione notice which post the mod decided to reply to? I think thats where it started...

in that post the poster actually said I don't care what this thread is about your post was stupid (paraphrased) and then the person that was replied to let thimselves be sucked in by it!
and I admit I let that same poster suck me into a pissing contest in another thread and I am honesly ashamed! I do hope the mods read this thread and take what I just said into account

I figured I might have had complaints on a post I made in the first thread. I quoted a list of the most idiotic things said by the TM's in the first 28 pages. I didn't call names but I referred to the list as stupid silly and made up shit.

It may have been reported as off subject as I stated the TM's and the Zim's are divided along pro gun and anti gun. I still maintain that the lynch mob is anti gun. They, for the most part don't like the fact that people own and carry handguns, they tend to favor more gun control and they look at this incident as reinforcing their anti gun opinions and / or fault gun laws as the reason TM is dead. They desperately want to see Zim convicted and will reach for anything no matter now absurd to reinforce their side.

I think that a large part of the problem is that certain people are arguing from fact and others are working from emotion.
There is a large section who appear to be concerned with points of law, lay out their case etc...
Another group rebuts with vitriol and personal attacks.
Then things degenerate.
If we could remove the attacks, then maybe a dialogue could occur, but there is a tendency for mud to be slung at the first possible instance

Don't see how anyone could have missed it.
Didn't surprise me out of one, in fact that one has been far ruder to me but the other had seemed ok up to that moment.

Who cares? Like most of the threads in P&R it was a total crapfest from the start. There wasn't anything new being discussed in that thread that wasn't brought up in every other Zimmerman thread before it. The only reason Cloudboy cares is because this time it was a thread he started that got closed down.

Boo hoo.

I'm not sure if I remember who, but there was an extended Tet-e-tete re someone calling Martin a child that went round and round for pages

That was one of the 28 points mentioned above.
And for full disclosure I took the position that while he was a minor no one old enough to get married or join the military can be accurately described as a child.

Yeah, but it wasn't about whether he was a minor, but rather who had called him a minor. That baby consumed pages :-)

ETA-And in response to the OP, I think it's perfectly acceptable to complain to the Mods when personal attacks occur. We should police ourselves, call folks out when they cross that line, but we seem incapable of that level of maturity so we have to resort to crying for Mom and dad to do it for us.
(Kinda pathetic, eh? Especially for a whole shit ton of dominants involved. I mean, nothing shows class more than resorting to name calling and whining).

Now, whining that others disagree, that's a whole different ballgame.

Oh yes I remember that.
It was about punctuation and a person who thought they were the final judge of what you meant.

I have never seen the need to complain to the mods, though I have been reported twice for responding in kind which I thought was funny.

As for whining about people disagreeing all know we are right.

They are good at that. Used to do it to me a lot. In one thread claimed everything I said was a lie then that this did not mean they were calling me a liar.

I have been avoiding that thread.
Any thread that starts off as an insult can't go well.

you are right, and I know for a fact the topic was intended as BAIT, and they took it hook line and sinker

its no longer about the topic in the LEAST!

I called three people out on the exact thing you mentioned in an above post
