BTW one more time a couple of very minor injuries does not justify shooting anyone.

BTW one more time a fear of greater injury does justify deadly force.
You do not have to wait until you are dead or crippled to defend your self.

No. Fear of greater injury does not make it. It has to be a reasonable fear of imminent great bodily harm and that clearly did not exist. That's why Zimmerman made up the lie about Martin trying to take his gun.

Perfect logic....Zimmerman survived so his version is "truth" itself

Never said that and you know it.
But it is the only one we have.
Beats making up one for Martin and pretending that assumption is truth itself now isn't it.

So you admit that actual injuries are not relevant.

Is this kind of like the Cosby thing where the one kid is putting his hands all around the face of another kid and saying "I am not touching you."?

Really is that what you are saying?

I also believe you must mean "fact not in evidence" instead of evidence.

quote:

ORIGINAL: BamaD

The only one injured at all before the shooting was Zimmerman that is evidence.
Martin, according to his GF instigated the confrontation.

Other than being shot what were Martins injuries?
None.
Zimmerman's injuries had to come before the shooting, after it Martin was dead.

So?

Didn't you guys spend a lot of time on how big a pussy Zimmerman was? Would you expect Martin to have been injured when Zimmerman displayed his wannabe cop skills and attempted to restrain him?

Zimmerman, probably (or he got punched once and fell down), lost a fistfight. There was nothing remotely like justification to shoot anyone.

A I didn't
B You are still playing the believe anything you have to for Zimmerman to be guilty.
not even the prosecution tried to fly that canard.

Well, yes, actually, but I didn't let the possibility of moderation stop me from telling man-boobs exactly what I think of his pathetic ass on the Gorean forum so it wasn't the driving factor in my post.

Cheap laughs <--driving motivation and one that doesn't come along that often, so I took advantage of the unmoderated part.

I admit it. I was there. I'm guilty. I did it.

I'd do it again.

All these pages and yet no one has asked:

How long will the jury deliberate? When do you think they reach a verdict?

Well, from what I understand about how juries work, the longer they take, the less likely Z is going to be convicted. Mind you, it's not a lead-pipe cinch he's going to walk, but if they haven't decided the issue in less than a hour means there are serious problems on either side of the dock. Or they just want to avail themselves of all the free stuff they get. Who knows? They do things differently in Florida.

I still do not like the idea of 6 rather than 12 jurors…It just seems too easy to get a consensus one way or the other on something as serious as murder 2nd degree or not.

I would also be more comfortable.
But it was a 12 person jury that let OJ walk.

Jury has asked for clarification on Manslaughter.

"As she read off 27 pages of instructions Friday, Judge Nelson took pains to tell jurors to follow the law, consider the testimony and evidence they find most relevant, and use their common sense as they weigh Zimmerman's fate.

"All of us are depending on you to make a wise and legal decision," she said."

A wise decision being the one that causes the fewest riots afterwards, maybe? The jury is going to know - can't avoid knowing - that there's a mountain of politics sitting on top of this case.

Bets on a verdict of manslaughter, folks? That's my feeling.

My bets are hung jury... mistrial. I'd also say the state will NOT retry the case.

Manslaughter or acquittal. The one and only jury I ever sat on, we didn't get to the manslaughter charge at all because we had already found him guilty of m2 with special circumstance. We sent out one request to the judge for a clarification on the weapons charge because the wording on the instruction seemed convoluted to several of the jurors (wasn't to me, but I was out voted and hence the request made) and they weren't sure if they were supposed to vote yes or no on it.

Double negative on jury instruction <-- not good

I wouldn't be surprised in the least with that one.

Of course they're relevant. they prove that Zimmerman did not have an imminent fear of death or great bodily harm from Martin's physical assault. That is why he had to make up the lie about Martin going for his gun.

You have to admit the prosecution messed up the OJ case...I just think 12 minds are better than 6 at going over the details of this case and it would be harder for a dominant personality to take over and unduly influence the jury.

I have been thinking manslaughter for a long time now.
It's the logical verdict.
