Meanwhile, George's legal team is appealing Nelson's ruling, and seems quite confident of it being overruled. (The 5th DCA didn't hesitate to overrule her the last time George's team had to appeal one of her screw-ups.)

Beasley pointed out that NBC's error was so grave that it led to the firing of two staffers, and that most libel cases like this are 15 rounders.

I didn't see this when posted, I guess he missed two things.
A OJ lost in a case that ruled he was responsible for the deaths.
B OJ's book, which was a virtual confession rubbing the fact that he got away with it in everyone's collective noses.
C When OJ beat the rap I didn't keep trying to prove he was guilty.

When your a journalist, you have to be responsible with what you say, print, and design. Now, if those on FOX News had to live up to the same standard....

...they would be fired almost instantly! That should tell anyone the standards of journalism that exist in NBC and FOX News.

It wasn't in Sanity's head; it's a well known incident. Of course though, that incident makes a wonderful litmus test; on one side there are those that believe Rather was implicit in an attempt to deceive (and there's legitimate reason for the belief), and those that don't (with reasons that can be used to explain that as well.)

But calling someone a "fucking liar" for having a different opinion on a widely known event is a pretty lame tactic that does nothing to promote intellectual discourse.

(But of course, this particular forum is not the place to go to for intellectual discourse so I s'pose it fits right in.)

Rather did stand by the report even though it was based on poorly forged documents because even though there was no longer any proof he said he still believed the charges.
Personally I believe that he wanted to believe them so bad he allowed himself to be duped.
I don't know exactly where that puts me in your ranking of views on this.

Perhaps you are not aware of the facts of the incident. Perhaps if people were to actually look at the incident itself and all of it's aspects they would not make foolish statements. In the mater of my post. I was responding to a blatant lie not a "difference of opinion"

This is the perfect place for intellectual discourse but you are well aware that some are not equipped to do so. So they post up rhetoric about how bad the other side is without ever making a specific claim.
