AAkasha -> Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/30/2013 5:24:24 PM)

I know men often sneak into lingerie stories...hell I have been guilty of dragging a few in there myself. I have a girlfriend that used to work at Victoria's Secret and I have also gotten to know a few managers at local stores to get their take on what they think of men who buy panties for themselves, etc.

So what are your confessions, men? Do you do it? Do you tell them it's for you? Are you too shy to even go inside? Do you think you ever well? A lot of men come to me with the goal of eventually having the courage to do it. Others like the idea that I can talk to them and pick out lingerie for them that I think will be appropriate that's a lot more fun than them buying it online (plus they don't know how to buy it).

There was a great thread on reddit recently about "what was the strangest thing you have experienced as a woman working at Victoria's Secret." You have to read the whole thread because many of the answers having NOTHING to do with men buying panties so make sure you hit "expand" and read them all.

My hubby just stands around looking for other men he can complain with. My Victoria secret now has a waiting area for men. So he doesn't complain too much. My subs walk with me and sometimes they will help me pick out things.

I know that you were asking something different, I just think its funny to watch straight men squirm. Lol

Sissycdnohookups -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/30/2013 5:31:18 PM)

I don't bat an eyelash at Vic's Secret, Target, Frederick's or Walmart. I openly browse and examine and purchase. It doesn't matter too much to me but it seems to raise very few eyebrows when one is not behaving in a furtive or secretive manner. Oh and I make sure they will fit me!

I shop for and buy what I want, where I want, without any worries. The clerks don't know who you are buying for. Of course, for me, women's clothes are for a woman but I wouldn't worry about it either way. They are selling it so just buy,

Objectively speaking, panties perform the same function as boxers or any other underwear. Everything else - the dogma, the squirming and so on - is just an additional subjective layer added by our bizarre society. After all, nobody bats an eye when a woman wears pants or a suit.

TL;DR: haters gonna hate.

TNDommeK -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/30/2013 8:30:32 PM)

No, no, I was meaning seeing the straight guys in there with their wives or girlfriends. Lol

NuevaVida -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/30/2013 10:47:26 PM)

The Mister is a straight guy and has no problem hanging out in Victoria's Secret. I don't go there much because their bras don't fit me, but the last time we went there together the sales woman snuck him into the dressing room with me so he could see what I was trying on. He goes into the dressing room with me at Fredrick's, too. He doesn't squirm, he likes those stores. Eye candy and all that...

MasterCaneman -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/31/2013 7:17:10 AM)

I have no issues with going in and buying stuff for my woman. My only problem is, sometimes I can't figure out what a particular item is for. Sometimes I can't tell when one article "ends" and another begins with all the straps and frills and doohickeys that are used to wear them, when they're hanging on display racks. It does get annoying when the clerk wants to play 21 questions to see if I'm a closet CD, but since I only give the sizes and dimensions for a five foot 120 pound woman, that ends quickly. Fortunately, Carol is something of a tomboy in the undergarments department, so I haven't had to do it but a couple of times.

kalikshama -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/31/2013 9:13:47 AM)

My man has bought lingerie with and without me. I'll have to ask him if he has any qualms about buying it when I'm not there.

PeonForHer -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/31/2013 9:39:04 AM)

Hell's bells, no. I *hate* female clothing stores or departments in stores, and the lingerie sections or shops are the worst of all. Women darting everywhere; having to watch my elbows constantly . . . all this to add to the embarrassment. The last time I bought an item of lingerie it was a comprehensively hideous experience. A middle-aged lady saved me: she zipped off quietly and discreetly to get the right size and colour for me - special treatment that none of the women in the queue seemed to be offered. That could have had something to do with just how stressed I undoubtedly looked, I suppose, rather than just my being male.

Mind you, I heard once that they're really helpful to men in these stores not because they want to save men the pain, but because they want to get them out the shop ASAP. Apparently, having men around is off-putting to potential female customers.

That would have been a great question for the thread on REDDIT!

HarryVanWinkle -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/31/2013 1:28:38 PM)

Wearing lingerie or other "women's" clothing doesn't do anything for me, but I used to have a regular playmate who liked her men in panties, so I bought them to wear for her. I didn't find it embarrassing in the least. If I had a partner who got off on me wearing much more than that, I'd have no problem (other than financial) with buying it.

The only problems I might have with buying women's clothes for a woman to wear would be making sure it was the right item and the right size. As to what the store clerks might think, I couldn't care less. I gave up on worrying what strangers think of me a long time ago; it's one of the most liberating aspects of maturing. I never had a store clerk ask why I was buying panties and I never volunteered the information. It's none of their business.

And, I've worked in retail. The only reason I ever cared about WHY a customer wanted a type of product was if he needed my help picking out the one that would best suit his needs. Other than that, all I cared about was THAT he wanted the product, not why.

FR~

My OH doesn't wear any underwear at all but my 20yo daughter drags me into store to pick her undies and bras.
I don't have a problem with it at all.
Apparently, I have a good eye for clothes - so says my OH and my daughter! [:)]

Is it the male half you writing as FD here? If so - wow! That hints at a *very* un-stuffed-up relationship with your daughter indeed. Seriously - no sarcasm.

It's always the male half on here Peon. lol.
She has her own forums (The Sun, Anne Boleyn etc) so she never goes on here.

Both my kids have been brought up in a very open relationship and no subject is taboo.
Sometimes my 18yo lad comes out with some very profound statements for someone his age.

I know those on here that are strongly religious (and many mums) will want to strangle me for being so open but I honestly feel that both my kids are waaay more balanced, sensible and open than just about all other kids I've met of their age and older.

Heck, even my kids have commented on some of the stuff they've seen on my screen as being childish, rediculous or just plain ludicrous.
And we are supposed to be the adults on here??  [8|]

The same logic applies. Do women freak out or squirm in car dealerships, hunting gear stores or other male-dominated places?

MarineKitten -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/31/2013 9:21:09 PM)

There is such a double standard on this that I simply don't get. If I'm able to go to a store and buy a pack of boxers for myself, why is it not okay for a man to do the same with lingerie? Sometimes I feel sorry for men who feel they have to be all butch in order to be a man.

njlauren -> RE: Men shopping for lingerie / panties (7/31/2013 9:54:19 PM)

From long experience, the fear is often worse then the reality, and what I have found is with some few exceptions, they don't care, and few stores can afford to turn away customers. There are exceptions, there was a wig store I was in one where the woman got all deranged when I asked about wigs, but I simply walked out and wonder about someone turning away someone willing to spend 600 bucks on a wig.....the only thing I will say is I can understand in some cases where stores get upset at men in the lingerie section, it isn't because they are shopping there, it is because they are so nervous and furtive that they think they are either shoplifting or they are perverts getting off on touching the stuff, or looking at the women....having done a lot of it, both in male mode and fully presenting, I rarely saw anything but being another customer.....one figure was that plus size woman's clothing stores , for example, have almost 40% of their sales from men buying for themselves, I don't know how true that is today, but was the number they threw about years ago

I once went into a Victoria's Secret and attempted to return a FORD 150 because it no longer fit my robust and rather intriguing frame. Other than that, I haven't been to a VS since I decided to quit masturbating publicly in obscure, out of the way's Denny's and truck stops.
