They experience something that could be related, but it's not identical. At the heart of the Method is the use of past experiences and emotions to provide the context for the role you're playing. (*) If an actor is doing that, of course that's going to last a bit of time, especially with intense roles. It's not something that can be switched off instantly. (* This is a massive simplification. Obviously, to look at specifics you'd need to look at which school of acting the actor is following)
