In these days it started an unmoderated discussion about self defence and 2nd emendament, so I guess is the week topic, many claims they would react in a way or another in front of a crime, but who acutally killed a person? I know it's very personal but anonymity is granted if you don't declare the answer in a post, if you want to say how you felt I think will be a great learning experience for all the readers

Um . . . I have to ask. Is that:

"I've killed someone [that was] committing a crime"
"I've killed someone [while I was] committing a crime"

Yes you are right in english it is ambigous, I can't just think directly in english and in italian conjugation would be different in the two cases. I meant while I was commiting a crime actually but as I see one choosed that I suppose it's been already misundrestood

You need to add "I have defended myself with a firearm and not killed anyone in the process"
Some people assume that if you defend yourself with a weapon that someone was injured/killed.
In the vast majority of cases, this is untrue.

I don't use a translator, if I did you'd understood nothing for the different grammar, so sometimes it happens I misspell a word, but you understood anyway.
I can't edit no more the post so I'll write it correctly the next time and have to keep it that way here.

I changed the first one in order to fit this, I opened the pool because in that kind of threads a kind of frequent asked question begins with "would you really end a life..." sometimes the question is retorical, so maybe knowing how big is the share of person that had to go through that process, I don't know, can give a better awareness of how many don't consider that question hypotetical or retorical. The pool was about actually ending a life so I corrected the first one to include the case in which the theft/aggressor got away when challenged, the point was not about if it's opportune to carry a gun or not, that depends on too many things.

If you like, I could change I've killed someone committing a crime to I've killed someone while I was committing a crime and add I have defended myself with a firearm and not killed anyone in the process (which is not the same as Never actually kill/injure someone or even needed to defend myself) as well as two more categories.

I think the lack of this one (which applies to me and is also the most common by far among people who have defended themselves with a weapon) shows the prejudices of the OP.

OMG, a gun comes out, someone's gonna DIEEEEEEEEEEEE.

No

I have never been in a situation where I needed to kill someone. I am, however, one that has said I will if need be. Often times I am armed to some degree and am fully prepared for the possibility. Based off past experiences, I do know I think much more clearer with adrenaline rushing through me.

I cannot state I would for a fact kill someone since I've never been faced with it.

That is above and beyond the call of duty. Nice!

I don't see my situation up there either. I've never brandished a firearm to fend off a criminal but on two separate occasions way back in the day I was ready to pull out my handgun in the heat of the moment. It was some scary shit and I'm lucky it wasn't necessary. Another time a drunken friend just barged in and came up the stairs one night. My roommate and me were freakin out until we knew who it was after he reached the top but I had my handy dandy .22 mag ready.
