sorry i haven't looked back at this thread in a while, i based those costs off of the base. most clinics will offer prices based off of salary or affordable options IF you can prove your salary or residence, i.e. tax records, social security, bank statements, id, check stubs... if you have those things you can sign up for the affordable options and the price of the paraguard iud for example drops to between 300-900 based on location, availability, your health records, how risky it is for them to do it etc. i based the prices off of the top range assuming someone went into a clinic without any records to acquire any discount in those cases the trip alone is $65(if you get them to cut out the urine tests, otherwise its $15 more) the depo shot itself only costs $35 but since you have to go in to get it it cost me $100, though i got them to drop it down to $94 because that was all i had and the nurse paid covered the rest for me in that case, they were really nice. they told me at the time that i could get it for free if i could find the required information to sign up for whatever it was that the womens preventative care bill was called. but at the time that wasnt a possibility and i never assume it is so i place the highest possible. as for an earlier post, the iud cant fall out, sometimes it is expelled by your body this isnt very likely though and usually only happens for people who have had 3 or more kids and are getting it too soon after. you dont have to check the strings and after a year you cant even feel them if you try, they just say you can to ease your nerves when you first get it put in. good luck with the depo op hopefully you don't have too bad of side effects.
