Moonhead -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/25/2014 9:36:03 AM)

FR:
People are acting surprised that a man who can murder (and assault his partners) with impunity is unconcerned with copyright law?

SadistDave -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/25/2014 8:02:12 PM)

Like it or not the rabid, leftist media gave him celebrity status. He has every right capitalize on his household name.

Personally, I'm surprised he hasn't painted images of the crime and his heroic self-defense fending off that thug wanna-be Trayvon Martin's vicious attack. 15 or 20 originals of those and he could get a gallery show.

He should also write a book about the attack and the trial. True crime books are still pretty popular.

FIRST you need a book deal. THEN you need to be able to pay off your existing debts. That's probably why you're not seeing it. He knows whatever advance his agent can negotiate just goes to pay his outstanding debts.

You know, because as an honorable person, he always pays his debts and would never misrepresent his financial situation, would he?

DaNewAgeViking -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/26/2014 2:19:35 AM)

Keep in mind that in most states, the proceeds of books, etc by criminals are seized to pay the victims. I'm not sure if that applies in Florida or for someone not formally convicted of anything (yet), but he'll figure why chance it? He likely won't bother. Besides, it wouldn't be anything more than a pack of excuses and gratuitous cheap shots at the prosecutor, so it's not like we're missing anything.

SadistDave -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/26/2014 5:01:16 AM)

That only applies if youre convicted I think. I dont for sure about how that works exactly, but other people who were acguitted have gotten book deals.

Moonhead -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/26/2014 8:16:53 AM)

I think the "Son Of Sam" law does apply in Florida (I remember reading a tiresome, whining essay about how unconstitutional said law was penned by a serial killer who thought he was Stephen King in an issue of Gauntlet back in 1990, and I think he was being held in Florida, but I could well be misremembering that), but that isn't the case here. As DNV and fargle point out, Zimmerman might have trouble convincing a ghost writer they'd get paid however big and advance he manages to get offered for his true confession, never mind the agent he'd need to negotiate a contract in the first place. When you get a reputation for stiffing people on bills, it can cause problems in the entertainment business as well, particularly when you first attracted attention for something that cost nobody anything, apart from your solicitor and whatever your trial cost the State.

EdBowie -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/26/2014 1:19:59 PM)

I doubt if there is any state anywhere in America where a person who writes a book about something they did, can have that book seized by the government when they are found not guilty.

Actually all of the royalties for OJ Simpson's "If I Did it" book went to the family of his murder victim.
Just because a person isn't found guilty doesn't mean they didn't commit the crime (which we all know he did, but he claims the kid attacked him with skittles).
Even a juror said about Zimmerman (before his legal troubles over his anger management and trigger happy behavior) that "we let a murderer walk, but it was because of the Florida statutes". Zimmerman got a way because of a LOOPHOLE, not because he didn't shoot that innocent kid dead.
Anyway, I dislike talking about the Casey Anthonys and Zimmermans of the world, they make my state look like it's filled with baby killing lunatics, ugh.

Lastly, anyone who would glorify the murder of a child, be it Zimmerman or Casey Anthony, really...where is their moral compass?
Are they even human?
Anyway, that's my 2 cents and I'm staying out of this, LOL.

gratuitous cheap shots.

Could they get any cheaper than this thread?

EdBowie -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/26/2014 1:43:25 PM)

As opposed to the moral compass of someone who takes a simple reference to the 1st amendment, and tries to spin it into an accusation of glorifying the deaths of children, deliberately rehashing every single debunked lie from a case that is over and done with?

Simpsons book profits went to the victims family because they won a civil suite for wrongful death.

I don't see how you compare Casey Anthony to Zimmerman. Caseys child was just barely out of diapers. The guy Zimmy shot was a thug wanabe.

I mean come on, "baby killing lunatics" really ?? Who is glorifying the murder of a child ?

Maybe he and Jodie Arias can get together and do a mural or something...

[sm=givemebeer.gif] I'd pay money to see him fuck Jody arias and make her come. Not one of those dainty comes. One of those hair pulling, grunting, got to the basement and dig under the floor until you hit the well and bring up a giant one, snap a 2x4 in half because your muscles are so tense, orgasm.

I do not think the "Coded Dog Whistles" help the discussion. Everyone knows what you mean by it, so why not just be honest with yourself and everyone else and say what you mean in plain English?

Lucylastic -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/27/2014 4:37:02 AM)

Because its against tos... and using code helps the conscience

That's the only issue at stake there then, and Zimmy's reputation for stupid behaviour and defaulting on his bills wouldn't put off any publishers or agents who can pursue a real celebrity as a client instead?

GoddessManko -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/27/2014 5:45:14 AM)

Like I stated before, I'm not touching this topic. So don't try to compel me. Thank you :)

C.mon Fargle, Trayvon was armed with iced tea (the official beverage of thug wanabes) and Skittles (the official candy of thug wannabes). Also, if you recall some earlier conversations, Trayvon did poorly in school and back talked his mother . . .
clearly he was a menace to society that needed to be taken out.

By 'publishers and agents', you mean E-bay, yes?

Rule -> RE: Zimmerman's back... (1/27/2014 6:23:55 AM)

I propose that all pictures, paintings, movies and video productions and sculpture and all scientific and newspaper articles become public domain one year after publication. That will tremendously simplify copyright law - and save a hell of a lot on juridical expenses.

Why? Then you couldn't make a living from anything artistic. They'd have to work a normal job to live. Or find a rich patron to pay them while they created.
