Arnica (cream or gel) can help with bruises.

I found that when I was doing pro-sub work, that Arnica did exactly jack-shit.

0/10, waste of money,

Same here. The only thing I ever found that did anything at all was an epsom salt bath. But other than that....just time.

So, what tips or tricks do you have to keep your bottoms willing and, more importantly, able to keep coming/going back for more? It doesn't have to be restricted to impact play either. I'm always interested in learning new things, and will likely keep exploring.

I know this isn't what you are looking for but it's the honest to god truth. What keeps me coming back is knowing that he loves and cares for me. It's not the aftercare. Aftercare is just something nice that keeps us intimately and physically close but not what keeps me coming back.

I hear what you're saying lw. I meant it more in the sense of being physically able to do it again, and not be out for the count recovering as long. I want to be able to continue enjoying the play that I have been enjoying. I wanted to make sure I will be able to. Part of that is taking care of my body so it can heal well. That's what I was trying to get at here.

littlewonder -> RE: physical aftercare for post play (2/7/2014 9:09:04 PM)

oh I know. I'm just saying that is what keeps me coming back.

My only physical requirements I've ever found was something to drink, maybe some small piece of protein like beef jerky or a piece of something sweet, and a blanket.

Other than that, I've never found anything that helps with bruises or cuts or anything except time. But I've never once been concerned with them enough to have to have them heal quickly or hide them or anything and I don't really get infections from them. My infections usually come from ordinary, everyday stuff...not bdsm stuff.

Goldielocksslut -> RE: physical aftercare for post play (2/7/2014 10:45:27 PM)

I am a big water drinker afterwards. I will take a few anti-inflammatories to help with my muscle aches along with a protein bar. Protein helps your body heal from the inside.

ExquisiteStings -> RE: physical aftercare for post play (2/7/2014 11:22:35 PM)

That may well be, goldie, but anti-inflamatories are HELL on the kidneys or liver, so I say, if you don't have to take them, why would you? In MY opinion, taking them prophylactically in anticipation of bruises you may not even get is just BEYOND asinine!

ExquisiteStings -> RE: physical aftercare for post play (2/7/2014 11:25:07 PM)

OK. Mea Culpa, goldie. I misread your earlier post. I guess it's ok to take them for muscle aches, but be careful with them. I only say that because MY grandfather succumbed to kidney failure when he was still relatively young.

Goldielocksslut -> RE: physical aftercare for post play (2/8/2014 7:46:16 PM)

I am actually very careful with them because that reason.

Hi I'm new here and I know somewhat about skin care, and trauma to the skin.

Welcome to the boards, Matt! Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

lovethyself, a cold-pack will help bring down immediate swelling and bruising. The next day, a heating pad or hot bath will help with stiffness.

Kinda waited for one like this and has worked for me. Cold reduces inflammation then heat promotes healing. Same thing athletes use or should use for sprains and the like, some of which can heal in a day.
