Well clearly the attribute on Jay's writing is in the subject title.  That is why I opened it, regardless of the post coming from "not jay".
Pretty basic stuff and good to pass on when people are just starting, imo.
As for Jay personally, I have met him a few times and he seemed very chatty and not snobbish at all.  A bit over the top on safety but that is too be expected from anyone who gives seminars.  I didn't get a douche vibe from him, but I am guessing that is likely because no one was deliberately trying to push his buttons.  We all just hung out and tied people up.

Honestly, I have no interest in How-to BDSM manuals. Having said that, I have met Jay before and he impressed me as being switchy and personable. He gave a good rope-tying demonstration and safety lecture. I almost bought a couple of books at his book table. Then I remembered how freaking lame Justine, Venus in Furs and Anais Nin's erotica was that I'd read more than 30 years ago, and I came to my senses.
