Are WE racists? ************************************************************I know in my heart that I am not a racist, but there is too much truth in this e-mail to ignore the facts. I am forwarding this because for most I believe this to be true. The sad thing about this is that the whiteman is afraid of confronting the issue because they will pay dearly for it. Are We Racists? You pass me on the street, and sneer in my direction. You call me "Whiteboy", "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey","Gringo" and you think it's OK. But when I call you, nigger, Kike, Towelhead, Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, Spec or Chink, you call me a racist. You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos and barrios the most dangerousplaces to live? You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day. You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day. You have Yom Hashoah, You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi, You have the NAACP, You have BET.(black entertainment television) If we had WET(white entertainmenttelevision) we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride Day you would call us racists. If we had white history month, we'd be racists. If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives, we'd be racists. If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists! There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US, yet if there were "White colleges" that would be a racist college. In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists. You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists. You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black, brown or yellow gang member or beats up a black, brown or yellow drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist. I am proud. But, you call me a racist. Why is it that only whites can be racists? Forward, if you agree.

I for one AM a racist. I hate everyone equally lol.....sorry had to do it. Not really a racist, but I know quite a few in rl.

There is a big double standard these days as far as who is a racist and who isn't. The thing is, why should anyone be celebrating race anyway? There is no accomplishment to what race you are. You were born into your race. It is what you do as a person that matters. And there are plenty of good and bad people of all colors. I thought the whole point was that we should judge a person on their content, not their color? Didn't Martin Luther King preach that? I am proud of many things that I have accomplished in my life. But coming from a Mexican heritage isn't one of them. I had no choice over that. Brown pride, white pride, black pride, etc. is a bunch of nonsense.

Ok....seriously... I have quite a few friends that feel the same way as the email. There are people that celebrate a "White Pride Day"...they are called Arayans/Skinheads....I know, I dated one once. And I have NO problem of calling someone a name if they disrespect me by calling me one. There are a lot of white people who do crimes as well.... not trying to take anything from the email. * goes back to my corner and gets off of my soap box*

Yes, there are a lot of double standards. As for races there are only three if you remember your high school science classes; Negroid, Mongoloid, Caucasoid.

I think that probably about everyone has had a racist thought at some point in their life. That does not make them racist.. it makes them human. We all have emotions and probably react to things in the easiest way for the mind to deal with it.. or make sense of it. so to answer.. No, I am not. Respectfully, Andrea

A racist believes that one race is superior to another (or all others) simply because of race. I don't think that the op believes that, and I don't think that most people in the US believe that either. Estring

I thought someone is a raciest if they Judge people based on their race- not if they take pride in the race they belong to. Since when has taking pride in your own race made you a racist? Maybe I missed the lesson?

Most people i know are racist to some degree. usually because they've either had a problem or two with a feww folk from a different race, or they see/hear negative attitudes from others of a different race, or they fear what they dont understand. Those who can get past that and realise that the same unpleasantness is common to people of all races and decide to move past that and get to know folks from different races they usually get past raceism.. All of the above can be applies to different cultures too.. For some of us it also applies to different age groups too.. Youth vs Older folk.. I really don't like dreadlocks and street talk.. Yet I know some geat young adults who proudly wear dreaslocls and talk street talk, they i turn know that to communicate with me that they either need to translate street to me or drop it when we talk.. It becoms hillarious when an ancient Grizzly tries to respond in street or reverys to medieval speak.... hatred shortend your life.. Finding fun in living and with everyone you mix with may not make you live longer but you will live a richer life..

Personally I think that racism is one giant pain in the ass. I don't care who it's coming from. Skin color shouldn't matter at all. Culture... well, there will be differences there. The problem comes when people get all hostile while 'defending' their ways and beliefs. If people weren't so defensive and were more curious or at least accepting, I doubt there would be nearly as much trouble. You don't have to embrace someone else's ways in order to at least be friendly and civil. A little understanding goes a very, very long way. zuma

fast reply, to no one in particular. Just because I posted this here, doesn't mean I (a) forwarded it on, or (b) agree with what it says. I simply thought it would make a topic for discussion........to observe people's reactions, and people's responses. I leave it to you all to discern which were reactions, and which were responses.
