The Church is hard (I know this first hand), but it does encourage you to make a decision to chose between evil or good.

Is it excessive? That is a much more difficult question than many realize.

You feel a certain way, but how is that scientific? The Church is orthodox. The Church is not interested in your opinion.

However, though Ockham was excommunicated for apostasy, his philosophy was never officially condemned.

Why does this seem plausible to me? It seems plausible because Church doctrine has a strongly scientific character. This is not so with many Christian denominations. They after all broke away from the Church feeling that it was too rational for their liking.

Science glories man in a way that is excessive. The Church on the other hand humbles man and wonders what your inclination is if pressed. Are you the sort who chooses evil or good? In other words, it wants to know what you are made of, what is your character? What sort of man or woman are you? When William of Ockham was pressed William of Ockham chose evil.

Is he STILL prattling on (to himself mostly)??

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (4/1/2014 12:14:33 AM)

It is part of what the Virgin Mary praised me for. When pressed I chose good.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (4/1/2014 12:24:03 AM)

I suppose there will be those who will come after me who will be ever so slightly jealous of me.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (4/1/2014 3:10:48 AM)

I am reminded of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. In all these years how many have I found who were truly good?

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (4/1/2014 3:15:38 AM)

How many will chose the role of the accuser and feel they have done a great deed? How many will settle for less?

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (4/1/2014 3:27:56 AM)

How many more 1-liners is he going to type just to get his post count up??

FFS BenM, at least type something A) sensible and B) more than a 1-liner.
33 pages of mostly one person rambling on.
It's nothing more than spam!!

This exploration of Saint Augustine has been most edifying. There were some things that were fuzzy that are more clear now. I have a firmer grasp of what Our Lady conveyed to me, the meaning of her words. She is often with me though I do not see her. She stands above me, but not directly above. Thank you Holy Mother.

At Fatima, the Blessed Virgin Mary told the three child seers that many souls go to hell because they have no one to pray or make sacrifices for them. In her Memoirs, Sister Lucy describes the vision of hell that Our Lady showed the children at Fatima:

"She opened Her hands once more, as She had done the two previous months. The rays (of light) appeared to penetrate the earth, and we saw, as it were, a vast sea of fire. Plunged in this fire, we saw the demons and the souls (of the damned). The latter were like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, having human forms. They were floating about in that conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames which issued from within themselves, together with great clouds of smoke. Now they fell back on every side like sparks in huge fires, without weight or equilibrium, amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fright (it must have been this sight which caused me to cry out, as people say they heard me). The demons were distinguished (from the souls of the damned) by their terrifying and repellent likeness to frightful and unknown animals, black and transparent like burning coals. That vision only lasted for a moment, thanks to our good Heavenly Mother, Who at the first apparition had promised to take us to Heaven. Without that, I think that we would have died of terror and fear."

Hello Ben
Surely you don't believe I am any kind of a witch. Please.
You call yourself BenevolentM. It's a long name. I happen to like the name Ben. I used it for short.
It is coincidence it means the right, or is it?
Please don't consider me witch when I merely show you decoding or power of the word in actual manifested practice and reality.
I am very interested in doing good, although I am sure I fall short at times.

The following words are the only words in your post that meant anything to me.

Do not fall into the hedonistic trap that goodness is synonymous with agreeable.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (4/1/2014 6:25:55 AM)

Good morning to you. What do you think are the chances that DaddySatyr and Marc2b will later say that what they wrote was an April fools joke?
