BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/30/2014 4:49:31 PM)

What I am saying is the Church is not destined to be a relic of the past. There is reason to be hopeful.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/30/2014 5:39:42 PM)

What I am talking about may be above your pay grade. As a courtesy, recall one of the characters in the background. It was Kurt Gödel. The film is cute, but the message the story conveys is more sophisticated than you might at first think.

chatterbox24 -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/30/2014 5:47:32 PM)

Are you referring to the symposium dinner?
Above my pay grade? Haha
you know it probably is, tell me the central part?

Heh. I don't think you need protecting, chatterbox. I just call them as I see them.

If I told you everything I know, then chatterbox24 could claim the title. chatterbox24 is unworthy. ha ha

This peculiar approach I am taking stems from a need to put it in the hands of God.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

chatterbox24 -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/30/2014 6:13:01 PM)

I know that prayer well. That isnt above my pay grade.
now tell, so I can steal your title, that has been my reason the whole time. Blasted! You caught me.
oh and I forgot AMEN

Thats fine. Feel free to believe whatever you want. Life is good.

And there it is again, no ability to engage intellectually. That's not what a average IQ should look like the choices you've made come with noticeable negative consequences.

You are confusing a lack of interest with a lack of ability. And personally, at least, I can't see any negative consequences arising from declining to engage any further with you. The reality would seem to be that she's smarter than you thought.

K.

Thank you K. Sharp as a tack you are, and well balanced.

It's not just this once there's a pattern, you'll spend 17 pages so far talking to me just in this thread. You're clearly quite interested to assert, assert, assert at me. But the moment it comes to actually explaining, the part of a discussion which could actually make a position meaningful and compelling then it's time to run for it.

I have no interest in one who wants to insult not debate. He accuses me of being blind....

You're the one who brought up the term blind, not me. But I tried to point that you've got no business being offended at such a claim since you've explained to us that you do blind yourself to "book and worldly knowledge" when it conflicts with your religious position.

quote:

ORIGINAL: chatterbox24
...and others might think this also, but I am firm in my beliefs, but I hope not so stubborn, I cant see the light.

Unless that light happens to be contained in "book or worldly knowledge" which conflicts with your religious beliefs, if that happens you'll be left in the dark.

I relate to God in the best way to describe it as a 6th sense. In St. Augustine teachings in confessions, he talks of the 5 senses. Basically I add to it, a lead, a jumper cable to the 5 senses, but I mean that with the highest respect.
I also like his concept of the invisible Church. This would be helpful for those who felt disappointment in people that lead them to the lack of faith they may now have.
To me it looks like his sins, lead him to sacrifices, but those personal sorrows were a benefit to mankind. He blessed others by his work and sacrifice to God. He was a blessing, although he was a man of sorrow. The beauty of it is, he could find contentment in his work and sorrow, his condition. It had to be God as far as I can see it.

I do not play God, I do however, find it beneficial to come to my own understanding of things. The reason is to bridge a gap that might be lacking for clarity that lacks for me. To find unity with God. Its working, and If I do something out of line, I have faith it will be redirected.

Also, his exploration of the Trinity is interesting. I am a firm believer of the Trinity.

Entertain me and tell me more.

Wait! I think I might have it. The movie, they are eating ice cream. Ed asks what flavor that Einstein had, at an earlier time. He said peppermint, and then said, good question, simple with a definite answer.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? ?.......ha.....Was that proof?......was that the central part?

No. Must we go through this delightful film scene by scene? At the President's motorcade when Catherine Boyd spoke to Albert Einstein and Albert revealed to Catherine that she had done something he couldn't, to prove conclusively. James Moreland represented academia. Academia was robbing Catherine of her destiny which was two fold: To find the truth and to find love.

Now, that's funny, I don't remember that part of the movie, even after watching it 3 times. IT sounds familiar, of course, and after you mentioning it, I begin to remember. I, myself, just found it hysterical them rolling around in the grass and her slapping him and biting him. And the look on the faces of the people. Oh James needed electrodes attached to his testicles for sure.[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] Whoops that isn't very nice is it? But it is true. hahahahhahahaha

I stated in an earlier post, that the wisest scientists of the world use knowledge along with God. I stand by that statement. Why? because as you said, its like dangling a carrot in front of a mule. Its a code quite mysterious and invisible. What about string theory? That is an interesting one. Life is energy, and the things around us bring energy. Just because you cant see something does not mean its not there. Is it really true we lose weight at the moment of death? And how does one know, when you are in a room alone or with company, that something isn't going on that you can not detect with the human eye? Why do people have so much trouble understanding the bible? Besides its even stated its beyond human comprehension. Could that be that God lives where a human can not exist?

Unless you and BenevolentM are the same person, then I really don't see where I have had an intelligent conversation with you. There is  reason for that, because although words come out and are typed, we do not speak the same language.
Yes, there is such a thing, as being to smart for your own good. You can be mad at God all you want for your lack of understanding and your denied request for answers. Might I suggest just accepting that there are some questions that will never be answered. Humans are their own worst enemy. Knowledge can be good, knowledge can be bad. Simple concept.

Well there are THREE people talking to themselves, and you're not one of them.

Yes with Catherine waving her arm with a smile saying I'll be right there Ike! with Ike looking on dumbfounded like Pontius Pilate.

Speaking of the invisible Church, God has seen fit to put me in both camps. I belong to both the visible and invisible Church with enough latitude to render me incomprehensible to the Devil.
