I seem to recall a certain high-ranking member of the GOP stating "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president" - less than 2 years into Obama's 1st term. None of his policies had been given any time to show themselves to be good or bad so that's a spurious argument at best. Can you name any other president any such thing was ever said about? I don't think you can. Face it: The GOP is doing everything it can to disenfranchise blacks because they are the party of entitled white folk who are scared to death of change. They have systematically destroyed unions and the once-great middle class. They have done more to concentrate wealth and power than at any time in the history of this nation. They continue to push policies that have been discredited time and again, not by some theoretical economist, but by reality. Mr. Sterling is the perfect poster child for the GOP: rich, white, entitled, bigoted, racist. He could be brushed under the rug if this were his 1st offence but he has a rich history of racism within his basketball team and in his real estate holdings. quote:

ORIGINAL: ThatDaveGuy69 A few points worth mentioning: Before you go and shed a tear for Donald Sterling keep in mind that the team is now worth something north of $550 million. Not a bad $12 million investment. He will very likely be told (by the NBA) that he must sell. That's not a bad payday, even for a billionaire. I would love to know what Mrs. Sterling thinks of all this. The conversation that caused this was with her husband's "girlfriend". I suspect she will file for divorce minute the sale of the team is complete. There is a huge difference between players using racial slurs and the owner running the organization like a plantation. The owner is in the ultimate position of authority over the players - he can literally decide their fate in the Game. I think we can thank (not blame) the election of a black man as president for much of the bigotry we've seen of late. If Obama were just another white guy the GOP would not have attacked him the way they have. Of course they have, for the most part, been smart enough to use the officially approved code words when discussing blacks. But their open and complete hatred at the thought of a black president has made it OK in some circles to express bigotry and racism in a way we haven't seen since the 70's. As disgusting as it is, maybe it is a good thing people like Sterling, Dean, Nugent, Palin, Bundy, and a host of others are outing themselves so the rest of us can marginalize them. Nicely done...the way you turned an N.B.A. owner's private bigotry into a condemnation of the G.O.P. at large for being bigoted. Because what OTHER reason could anybody have to hate the magical O other than bigotry? It couldn't be his energy policies, could it? Nahhhhhhhh, they're saving the earthl. It couldn't be his taxation policies, could it? Nahhhhhhhhh, they help the poor and misbegotten. It couldn't be his foreign policies, could it? Nahhhhhhhhhhh, every country on earth now loves us and loves our leader, even more. Yep...it must be because he is black. [8|]
