It seems like every January 1 and July 1, some new firearm restriction takes effect out here in California. How's this for reducing gun violence?

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-man-held-in-lancaster-bow-and-arrow-killing-20140823-story.html

quote:

A 23-year-old Lancaster resident was arrested Saturday on suspicion of killing a man with a bow and arrow after the victim tried to break up an argument, sheriff deputies said.

At least the neighbors weren't awakened by a gunshot in the night...

But was the arrow microstamped? They better get on that right away!

If you paid attention to the DC lawyers during the Heller debate they insisted that since the % of murders went down in spite if the fact that the only reason the % went down was because the murders with everything else went up. So by that reasoning this represents a great success.

Was it an assault bow, or a sniper's bow?

What really impressed me though, is California's effort to...ban toy guns. Could get tougher for police to shoot down unarmed, innocent people, at least well...in California anyway.

FR

My youngest brother gave me a pistol style crossbow as a birthday present. I'm not sure if we were supposed to do that transfer through a licensed dealer, and with a 10 day waiting period though. I also don't have an clear guidance on whether I need to store it in the gun safe, or if I have to unstring it before transport either.

Obviously, we need more laws on these things.

TheHeretic, is it the inefficence of the weapon that pisses you off or are you just mocking the death of a persons to make a political point?

It seems to me that he's mocking the stupidity of California.

People die all the time, other people make light of it, it's called dark humor.

And yet again I ask why starting threads about death and tragedy is only wrong when the poster disagrees with you?

It's the idiotic politicians in my state that piss me off, Eulero, especially when we have people like Leland Ye pushing these laws (you've never heard of him, I'm sure. The indictment is public record though, if you'd like to educate yourself).

I know that neighborhood. The obvious joke would be about meddling in the affairs of tweakers.

ok so it's "dark humor" and not "mocking", is it something like "it's not old but it's vintage" kind of thing?

well if a single act with no correlation with the actual law would demostrate something, I'd give you credit for starting the topic, but this is just a way to complain about the law while feeling cooler because you are for gun prolification.

Anyway I'm not even complaining about th thread, I'm just pointing out how some people seem to be kind of petty.

And we were just noticing how some people don't let ignorance keep them from trying to fling poo.

But you can use peoples deaths all day to lecture us in how we should have gun laws like you and that is just fine and dandy.

Well I think it depends on how you use it, the difference is in empathy or the lack of, if you don't get it there is your shortcoming not mine.

Like most gunaphobs you assume that if we cared about people we would agree with you. Since we don't agree we cant care. It isn't our lack of empathy it is your filter.

According to the story it was a hunting bow. Nobody needs such a high power weapon! Bows are even worse than guns, because they kill silently. And don't even get me started on pest and weed killers. Anybody can buy them! Without even a background check! There's no reason to allow such things to be legal unless you're a sicko who wants to kill. Americans are just barbaric. I mean seriously. They don't even pad their sidewalks.
