I was wondering the same thing, why wasn't this in a box? I can't remember ever seeing any sort of gun, BB or otherwise, just sitting out on a shelf that way.

there like that all the time around here...

Really? No box, just a "rifle" sitting out on a shelf with no packaging at all? That seems very odd to me.

the boxes are tore open and many times the guns just sitting on the shelf beside the box...ive questioned store managers about it...

Even if it had been a real gun Crawford wasn't breaking any law since Ohio has open carry. The 911 caller and all the cops should go to jail.

I understood that it was a pellet rifle, not a bb gun (my sons is both) many pellet rifles can be pumped up to have a muzzle energy equal to a .22. A pure bb gun would not be likely to be mistaken for a "real" gun but many pellet rifles can be.
That doesn't make this any less of a tragedy but it must be remembered that the cop didn't show because of a report that someone was carrying a gun but that he was threatening people. Totally different situation. The fact that the 911 call was a false report does not alter the situation the cop thought he was in.

Did you watch the fucking video? They shot him before he had a chance to comply. Also in a store full of people exactly one person had panicked about Crawford and called 911. Not store management. When the police arrived they didn't contact store management or security and they should have noticed that absolutely no one seemed concerned except the one guy.

I do find your change of tune on guns amusing as hell though. Melanin content counts for a lot in your opinion I guess.

Still can't read I see. The person at fault was the one who turned in the false report. I said that carrying like he did was unwise, I never said he was in the wrong. His killing was a travesty brought on by a false report to the police who arrived and based their actions on false information. You clearly missed the part were I said that I didn't carry a new gun out of the box to avoid distress to others, guess that I have the right amount of melanin to make that unwise (I am of mostly German descent).

It's just funny how in every circumstance you defend the guy with the gun but now? Not so much. What's different? Certainly not the wisdom of his handling the gun. You defended the idiot who shot someone he couldn't see and even tried to justify the murderer who attacked the rafters.

He must have been able to see him or he couldn't have given him three warnings.
At no point did I say this was the dead mans fault. It was the fault of the guy who made the false report, beyond that you are, as usual, pretending that I am saying something entirely different from what I am saying.

You need to contact the site mods then because someone has hacked you account and is posting using your nick.

Actually they shot him before he had a change to shoot the kid they thought he was aiming at. As far as they knew he had just loaded the gun and was getting ready to use it. Of course this was all based on the lies of some asshat but I notice he was the only one you didn't mention when you were listing who you thought should be charged.

Oh and Bama didn't change his views on anything. He merely pointed out it would be stupid to walk out into the parking lot carrying a gun and he is right, it would be.

Can't you fucking read dumbass? Try reading my first post again. I bolded part you might find helpful.

Why yes you did shit for brains. so sorry now care to explain how the fuck the cops were supposed to know this caller was lying through his teeth. (I'm pretty sure they are not mind readers like the folks who are now trying to paint his actions as racist) And it's not like they can look up past posts like we can do with you double dumbass.

How about not shooting the guy until he had a chance to comply with their commands. You obviously haven't watched the video. I guess you were too busy whining to the mods that I was being mean.

I thought in the first report I read that the guy had taken it out of the box and was wandering around with it.

like every first report..it was wrong...if you watch the complete video..he just picked it up off the shelf as he was walking by....you dont actually see it...but in the time frame..theres no way he could have taken it out of the box...

This is a fast reply.

Let's get a few things out of the way...

The 911 caller was clearly lying about him pointing the gun at people, it did not appear that he did at any time. The caller may have believed that he was loading the weapon, tough call on that, but if he was messing with the gun in a way that looked like he could be loading it... well then, he wasn't wrong to report that.

Why the fuck does Walmart allow people to carry any type of projectile firing weapon around their store without a box? In most stores that sell firearms, is it not policy when you carry the weapon out of the store that it is in a container/box? I am asking because I do not know. Is it also not their policy that any weapon being purchased cannot be taken out of the area where firearms are sold?

You see a person, walking around with a weapon in their hands, inside a public place, in an area of the store where guns are not being sold, I would call the cops too. Believe me, I am not going to try and get close enough to determine if it is a BB/pellet/real bullets gun or not. That this happened is not surprising at all given that he was handling the weapon.

It is a little sketchy what the police did exactly to get him to drop the gun before they fired. The guy did begin to raise the weapon a little. Split seconds to decide... you make the call because I sure as fuck wouldn't want to. They had some bad information from the caller, but the guy did have a weapon... what the hell are they supposed to do? Walk up to him and ask him nicely if that is a real gun and if he intends to shoot someone with it? They had to assume the worst given the information they had... a guy, loading and pointing a weapon at people.

Yes, the guy they shot was innocent of any wrongdoing. However, he didn't use his head either and handling a gun, in public, could get you shot, either by the police or another person.

Not in the Walmarts where I live.

Ohio must be a really backward place.

You need to contact the site mods then because someone has hacked you account and is posting using your nick.

Nope you took something out of context and gave it a different meaning.
You are incapable of comprehending that the lack of perfection on his part does not mean the incident was his fault. I realize that this is difficult for you since you are perfect, but it is a distinction we mere mortals have to make.

BamaD -> RE: Ohio walmart shooting (9/26/2014 6:20:55 PM)

no i caught that..it was beyond me that what you know as fact you contradict yourself by defending their mindset that its not a (weapon)..your words not mine.

No I said THEY DIDN'T THINK OF IT AS A WEAPON
You do see the difference between that and my saying it isn't a weapon don't you, or has Ken been coaching you.

Sure. Then how come you seem to have no idea what actually happened that anyone who watched the video can plainly see? Is this another case of you simply being incredibly dumb?

I simply read what you wrote. There is no context surrounding that to change that to you not blaming Crawford. You tried some weasel words but come one do you really expect anyone to buy into that crap?

When I first mentioned it I didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to think I meant it was his fault. I explained that as soon as I found out someone was.
You can pretend I thought it was his fault all you want but it doesn't make it true. The problem was that a gunaphobic paniced, like you would, and called in a false report. You even stated that the way you choose to view my statement was at odds with what I believe. If even you can see that couldn't have been what I meant why are you insisting on it.

No. You've made statements that indicate a stunning lack of knowledge of the events so it is reasonable to surmise that you have no knowledge of what is on the video.
