Because I don't think it is at odds with what you believe. You're just letting one set of beliefs over ride another. You've been posting here a long time and your beliefs have been well demonstrated. That is because you are a moron who will believe anything as long as it lets you attack your betters (which is almost everyone) Your inflated sense of self is just another sign. Now to get back to the thread (sort of) while I said that he was unwise to carry the pellet gun around like he did (some idiot might panic and do something to create a dangerous situation) exactly when did I state that it was his fault. Not what you interpreted, not what you wanted to believe I said, when did I say he was at fault? When did I say he brought it on himself, again, not your interpretation, but actually said it. You can't without doctoring my posts because I never said that. What's more even you know it.

I feel sorry for the guy, and don't think he should have been shot. However, walking around with a gun in your hands, in public, pointing it all over the place, including in the general direction of people, is a really stupid thing to do. Maybe that was the last one, and there weren't any left in boxes, but if that had been me I think I'd have gone looking for a sales associate to see if maybe they had one still boxed. Or let him carry it to the front for me. No matter what, I wouldn't have gone wandering around the store with it like that. I once bought a rifle case in NJ. They opened a Dick's Sporting Goods in my local mall and had some great sales going. I was wandering around, and noticed I was getting odd looks, so rather then cause trouble I took the case out to my car, then went back in and continued my shopping. There was no rifle, just a plastic case, and I'd have been perfectly within my rights to keep shopping, but it just seemed easier/safer to not do so. Maybe the gentleman thought it was just a "toy" for his kid and didn't give a thought to how it might look to someone at a distance?

Maybe the gentleman thought it was just a "toy" for his kid and didn't give a thought to how it might look to someone at a distance? i agree...when the story first broke...i thought the guy must have opened the box himself and was just being stupid...so i went into our local walmart to see just how they keep their bb guns and was shocked..there was 2 of them just laying loose on the shelf and a couple of the boxes were torn open where you could remove them easily...if you watch the second video i posted from the time he picked it up till the shooting...he never pointed the gun at anyone and walked past 2 sales associates ...none of the other customers seemed concerned either...i honestly believe they should be kept in a locked glass show case just as any other gun...

If I were in a store looking at a gun off the shelf I doubt it would ever dawn on me that someone might think it was real. Well at least before this. Now I would think twice about it.

When I made basically the same statement I was roundly berated for allegedly saying it was his own fault for getting shot and for being a racist. Hopefully they will see that you are just talking common sense. I still think the guy who called in the "inaccurate" report to 911 is primarily responsible for things getting out of hand.
