You are the idiot, if you don't follow all of the rules you can't get to safe shooting.
Since it seems to have escaped you gun safety is part of shooting.
I Before you draw your weapon you have to assume it is loaded.
II Aiming it is pointing it at something you aim to destroy.
III Keeping your finger off the trigger is how you keep from blowing your leg off.
IV Make sure of your target so you hit the right thing.

See how it works.

Ken, but then he is smarter than the rest of us put together.
He says he has been punched in the face several times. If he is telling the truth about treating everyone like he treats people on here I can believe it.

Maybe he's getting it confused with D. B. Cooper's rules for parachuting safety.

Fr
Finally watched the video.
The man making the 911 call was not looking at the same thing I was.
About the only thing he got right was that it was a black guy in a black shirt.
His report is inexcusable.
I figured he panicked and exaggerated.
His report was so far off you almost have to wonder if he had something against Crawford,
or is a hard core racist.

But I've been very specific. What is the first rule of shooting. I'm not discussing firearm safety since we've already established that you are horribly deficient at that.

The first rule is always clearly identify your target.

Only one is a rule for shooting. Do you not understand that? Try and read and think.
The rest are about handling a firearm not shooting. Maybe if you'd think you could clean a gun so it doesn't misfire.

No you haven't.
I have been shooting for 56 years.
I have taught about a dozen people how to handle guns safely.
Neither they nor I have ever had anything approaching a firearm accident.
Proof positive that, as usual, you are wrong.

You might want to check again we already did establish that you don't or at least were unwilling to admit what anyone properly trained knows. Which is it?

for lovmuffin:
"I want to see that shooting safety list of rules"

=============================================================================================================

www.nssf.org/safety/basics

The 10 basic rules of safe gun handling and storage from the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

1. Always Keep The Muzzle Pointed In A Safe Direction

2. Firearms Should Be Unloaded When Not Actually In Use

3. Don't Rely On Your Gun's "Safety"

4. Be Sure Of Your Target And What's Beyond It

5. Use Correct Ammunition

6. If Your Gun Fails To Fire When The Trigger Is Pulled, Handle With Care!

7. Always Wear Eye And Ear Protection When Shooting

8. Be Sure The Barrel Is Clear Of Obstructions Before Shooting

9. Don't Alter Or Modify Your Gun, And Have Guns Serviced Regularly

10. Learn The Mechanical And Handling Characteristics Of The Firearm You Are Using

=================================================================================================================

http://training.nra.org/nra-gun-safety-rules.aspx

The fundamental NRA rules for safe gun handling are:

1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances.

2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger.

3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does.

crazyml -> RE: Ohio walmart shooting (9/30/2014 6:08:56 AM)

That cannot possibly be right. Our chief self-appointed expert on all things guns keeps telling us that number one is "All guns are always loaded", and he's trained many people.

You must surely have got the wrong page from the NRA, unless of course the NRA isn't as smart as our expert. In which case I say we're lucky to have him.

Although it does bother me that he can't unload his gun, a little

I saw a news article about a man who claimed he shot a round into his neighbors house because he had one in the chamber and didn't know any other way to unload it. Now this man fits the stereotype the anti gunners have of all or most gun owners. This is a man who should not be trusted with a gun, a knife, a car, or matches.
By our expert you must mean Ken. Because I know people who know a lot more about guns than I do. And people like Cooper who make them look like novices.
I am only an expert when compared to people like you and Ken.

lovmuffin -> RE: Ohio walmart shooting (9/30/2014 6:57:59 AM)

The first rule I was taught in the NRA youth marksmanship program (at a local high school where we had a target range in the basement t) was always assume a firearm is loaded. The same at YMCA camp.

Either way gun saftey and shooting safety is a distinction without a difference.

In the lists provided above that must be rule -1 something assumed before you even start with rules.
But hey as long as it allows Ken and carzyml to attack me it's good.
