Lucylastic -> Is anyone watching Outlander? (4/28/2015 3:40:05 PM)

I havent read the books, I plan to....
the last episode made me sit up rigid....
im no stranger to erotica, porn, extreme sadism, im no stranger to horror, sci fi, fantasy, and the darker side of humanity. Not much shocks me, but last night did.
A guy rubbing his dick on tv....not just once but several times. Not only that, it was during and attempted rape...
Did anyone see it, what are your thoughts?

Ive had various thoughts about it during the day....changing my mind on some original thoughts and new ones popping up at the strangest times. From the acting, to the reality, to the times, the history behind it, and yes of course the scene that caused this post:)

AAkasha -> RE: Is anyone watching Outlander? (4/28/2015 9:03:11 PM)

I've been meaning to check it out.

But I have to ask - any hot men get bound and/or gagged? Sorry, one track mind.

Why doesn't anyone tell me about these things though? I went years without know the adorable matthew gray gubler does an exceptional job of being handcuffed, tortured, and begging not to be injected with drugs in Criminal Minds (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5j6Ua_VmEE) -- and boy, can that guy beg.

What kills me is the behind the scenes stuff I've read or heard, and it's not uncommon, that an actor in an episode like that revels in the discomfort of the process, how cold it was where they filmed, how uncomfortable the chair and restraints were. Method acting, mmmm.

I'll go dry off now.

Normally I like period dramas and tried checking it out, only made it through half an episode though... poldark is my girlish fantasy time...game of thrones and Spartacus are probably as close as my tv has come to dirty(the castration scene made me squirm, and the slave rape in Spartacus). But I dont like shows that try to be "shocking" so much. Those shows I watch for the love stories. Khal, or poldark and the servant he grabbed from the street. I like fluffy fantasy with princesses and honorable men(currently on the third book of the riftwars series whole lot of princesses).

OMG I love Outlander!

Lucy, I agree with you, that was an intense scene and I hate Black Jack Randall.

It figures he wanted Jamie so of course he couldn't get it up.

I hated that whipping scene though, not hot at all!

I loved Outlander!! I only got to watch it during xfinity's watchathon week.

A lot of the shows I watched that week (Outlander, Ray Donovan and Boardwalk Empire among them ) seem to have every woman character show boobs. What's up with that?

Grins, we find a lot of the same "things" arousing Aakasha:)
Heres one of the two main characters
SO many gorgeous bodies in kilts, its a pleasure to watch.
ALtho the flogging scene got awful bloody and bits of skin hanging off, yes there are some lovely scenes.

I had to stick with it myself DU for the first two episodes,s but hooked since:) And Im a huge fan of period dramas (Rome, Spartacus, Downton abbey, Salem, Penny Dreadful, GOT and Ripper Street. I havent seen Poldark, but I will, its the cornish in me.)
Im a fan of things like the Following and Hannibal too, I tend towards the gory dark side.
Nothing wrong with fluffy fantasy at all:)

Black Jack is a hateful character for sure but he is played brilliantly.
I think that particular episode was a roller coaster, I cant quite believe tho that the sister got away with laughing at him without having the shit beat out of her or being punished by Jack. BUT Its their story:)
WHile I enjoyed the whipping scene, it was a tad....gory. but filled a niche:)

Hlen, lovely to see you:)
You should definitely look for it for the second season....
Boobs ARE de rigeur these days, but rarely do you see a willy....or a guy who cant get it up, quite so intimately:)

PeonForHer -> RE: Is anyone watching Outlander? (5/6/2015 8:22:50 AM)

Yep, I'm up to date with Outlander.

I have to say I barely remember the scene of Nasty Jack raping a woman. Was that our heroine? Whatever. Jack is an all round, comprehensive git.

I started watching the series with the suspicion that it would be tedious 'girls' stuff' - all smouldering-eyed and sensitive -foreheaded men, with a bland and pointless woman being the object of his completely incomprehensible ardour, as is de rigueur with that species of drivel. But it rapidly turned more into blokes' stuff - hoh yes. My sister, who's read the books, says that they're noted for being well-researched. The author plays a minor character in the cast, she tells me.

There are quite a few flogging scenes, plus scenes of Jamie, the hero, in the nuddy, and revealing a maze of old flogging scars on his back. None have been inflicted by women, though.

Fun scene for the femsubs/maledoms later on as Claire gets a spanking on her very agreeable posterior. That's it - no plot spoilers from moi. ;-)

Thank you! 2 willy alerts - the Lucky Luciano character in Boardwalk Empire and the Gyp Rosetti char. in B Empire. You might especially like Gyp's naked scenes (I'm guessing he's in seasons 3 and 4) - He's a gasper with a very thick belt around his neck in some sex scenes.

VERY enjoyable!!

I keep getting told I'll like these books- and this series- but...I'm feeling doubtful. Is there a great deal of rape (attempted or otherwise)? Im having some issues with all the rape in game of thrones, this sounds similar, if not even more graphic...

No. A few attempts at rape (not surprising given the era), but mostly it's a love story, IMO, with huge doses of history, medical/herbal doctoring, a wee bit of time travel (with the inconveniences/conveniences involved), and the added plus of quite a few exquisitely likeable/despicable characters.

Give the first book a shot. I'll be surprised if you don't at least TRY the second (3rd, 4th, etc! LOL)

TNDommeK -> RE: Is anyone watching Outlander? (5/25/2015 1:20:45 AM)

I have been meaning to watch it but havent gotten around to it.
Greedy!!!! Hi!

Lucylastic -> RE: Is anyone watching Outlander? (4/11/2016 10:53:59 AM)

I thought I would start this thread up again, seeing as season two has just started.
I havent watched the episode yet, I went back to binge the first season. but I see that some of the posters who posted here last season still post:)

PeonForHer -> RE: Is anyone watching Outlander? (4/11/2016 11:35:55 AM)

Yep, caught the first ep of Series 2.

It threw me when it started with her back in the 1940s, then her suddenly being in the 18th Century again. I was thinking, 'Eh? What's going on?'

I've got to say, it really doesn't sit quite right for me that she was able to get back with her 1940s husband so easily despite the fact that she'd been with another man for two years. How does he resolve that in his head? And, at no point does he say anything like 'I'm willing to make a go of this with you again, so long as I know you love me. Do you love me?' But, then, it didn't gel for me that she slipped so easily into a romance with Jamie in the first place.
