I'm getting "bad host name" when I try to get to Collarspace. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

I had that problem off and on today and yesterday. Seems to have cleared up now for me.

You should probably take a look at the kinds of foods you're bringing to the BBQ.

It could be you.

We will have unavoidable service disruptions as tech works out the picture issue. I have heard words like servers, loader, millions of pictures for over a decade and someone is going to die. I am not asking!

Okay, I exaggerated, but I'm hiding and that's my story, you know the rest.

We hope it will all be finished very soon and are sorry for the disruptions. Support is overwhelmed with complaints, questions and reports to respond to. I hear they are funny, but have pulled every hair from their own heads and are now ready to do harm. I'm not going there either!

Hey 3.....I was just curious if any others have had similar issues (I can't be the only one). I think it began when the switchover occurred, but...almost always, when I switch in between functions....it signs me out.

Not exactly like I expend a great deal of energy re-signing back in but...just curious.

That is odd. When tech can breath I will try to remember to ask them about it.

I'm really sorry that you're experiencing that.

We are making some headway, but this is major. They will get it done, but we still may have some rocky times for a bit. Believe me, no one wants it done more than tech!

The site has been really sluggish for over 2 days now on the profile side in accessing various features, whether with mail handling, searches, or checking on anything. Then it was down for maintenance today from mid-afternoon, and I finally gave up trying around 6pm. I couldn't post on the forum side from 15:45-19:30 and kept getting a "500 Internal server error" message.

Hopefully this means a noticeable upgrade somewhere.

DreamLady

P.S. Almost forgot to mention, I haven't been getting any e-mail notifications of new inbox messages since 5/29 or of new forum post subscriptions since 5/30.

Very sluggish here as well. It went down around 6pm UK time and I tried a few times in the evening to access it but only got a generic error message.

It's been bad for me too. When I could finally see Collarspace and Collarchat again, I tried to send a letter to a friend and it wouldn't send. Gave me an error page instead, so I had to paste the letter into his mailbox over at Fet and hit send.

Collarspace mailroom allowed me to hit reply, and type out my letter just fine. The problem came after I hit send. I tried maybe half a dozen times before giving up. Good thing I got into the habit of copying before attempting to send anything.

As for the message boards, I tried to leave a post in the thread about slavemike but when I hit send, I got an error page instead. When I went back to the thread it hadn't posted. (I'm crossing my fingers as I send this...)

I've had that same problem since the great Schism took place as well.

Have any of you ever had a car that NEVER needed maintenance? Never had it go into the shop for a day or two?

I didn't think so.....

Well......

computers ain't really all that different.....suck it up and wait a day or two for it to get better when it happens!

When I do talk to tech, if I can, I address some of the things that you all have said and with Support, we are trying to keep the communication open without overloading one another during these challenging times. I know for a fact they have run from me on at least one night.

to MasterG2kTR.. The reason people are posting that they have problems is because maybe they thought it was just them. By having a thread [which I think there should be one main one, kind of like train wreck, so people won't have to keep creating new threads] people can keep track of what is going on without having to constantly send emails to support. I imagine a thread would be better for support because then they wouldn't have to go through every single email that says the same exact thing.

oOo If this idea does go through, is there a way that moderator posts could be a different color [different than the background color]?

Echoing dreamlady, I too have noticed sluggishness.

Here's another oddity that I thought I'd pass on: I can't seem to log-in.

Steps to reproduce:

- Open the site. See log-in screen

- Enter name, password, attempt to log in.

- Result: get booted off to the clock logo, and "site is not responding" message/screen.

- Go back to log-in screen, and browse profiles to your heart's content by clicking on a profile or by searching for a profile name.

Hope this helps,

Lawrence

The disruptions are coming and going at various times. I can try to do something and it times out and then just wait a few and try it again and it goes through.

My owner is an IT person, yes computers need maintenance but normally maintenance fixes things rather than causes more problems and right now Collarspace appears to have many issues which the various outages are not fixing. Yesterday was by far a better experience. Today it has been down for hours.
