You'd have to ask the person which posted this for true clarity and context. "Control over life" in my book means being able to reasonably manage the basics of life. Drug, Alcohol, Gambling additions and the like for starters. Those with additions either got them under control or are being controlled by it.
Mentality has a lot to do with this. Sure, it's true control is an illusion to a point. I don't think the person posting that was thinking about the acts of fate which popup or occur. More like if it's an on going, never ending crisis with somebody. Also, some people have a general shit attitude and are always complaining about shit. This kind of shit will drag people down around them. The none stop complaints of how much life sucks, how the place they work for sucks ass, they will complain about all things great and small. Until the Air in the room is depleted of O2. They will drain you of your empathy and give a damn.
These kind of people could be considered as not having "Control over life" because they do little to improve their mental state, situation or whatever. Their thinking and mentality is polluted to a point that it too is a form of Addiction. People not in control of their unhealthy thoughts patterns or emotions... are just that... Not in Control....at least not over the shit they themselves have real true control over.
Another aspect of control, is somebody really giving a fuck or not about what they do or supposed to be doing. Although those which make themselves out to be a martyr for giving a fuck so much while they villainfy everybody else for Not Giving a fuck. Really, people betray themselves in attempts to over compensate for their own lack of control.
Ironically, some people which have their shit under control, don't have a true sense of having everything under control. We all have a general sense of lacking full control. So it become subjective. However, clearly... there is a point of reasonable control. Which is socially acceptable. Somebody hitting the crack pipe, wondering who the fuck to Con money or things out of.. ain't it.
There's some really fucked up people in this world.
