stef -> David Bowie RIP (1/10/2016 11:37:34 PM)

Posted to his Facebook page and verified by his son:

"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief."

The stars look very different today :(

Just heard it on the news, Ashes to Ashes

RIP Bowie

I never even knew the Limey former rock star had cancer! He is rarely in the news. Just turned on the news and it was on. Aged 69.

Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing we can do.

This sucks. :(

PeonForHer -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 2:27:07 AM)

Yep. Sixty nine - and having only just released an album. I assumed he'd be around for decades longer.

Lucylastic -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 3:32:52 AM)

Just woke up to the news...I have a major sad today:(
A legend.
I started listening to him when I was 11. Aladdin Sane.

Gutted...RIP David.

My cousin tells me that the Limey Sky news channel have featured his death only all morning. Who the fuck was he GOD?

PandoraFoxxx -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 4:28:13 AM)

Yes.

The Album is a farewell. It's really quite surreal - but I'd expect nothing less so it isn't surprising - just wrenching.

Marc2b -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 4:57:12 AM)

I do not like the idea of a world without David Bowie, but I will turn and face the change.

Lucylastic -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 6:26:46 AM)

I just watched "Lazarus"
his last video
grabbed me somethin hard.

hot4bondage -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 7:42:38 AM)

I'm standing in the wind
but I never wave bye-bye.
But I try. I try.

RIP David Bowie

OsideGirl -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 8:55:03 AM)

It was literally the first thing I saw on the TV this morning. I think I have at least one of his songs that were part of my life soundtrack during every stage of my life.

DocStrange -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 3:08:10 PM)

I grew up watching him in Don Kirshner's Rock Concert on Friday nights at midnight. I could not tell if he was a guy or girl back then. He dressed very androgynously back then. And I was way to young to know about those things.

Another great musician that will be sorely missed.

shiftyw -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 3:53:08 PM)

I cried over it. I didn't realize it would hit me so hard.
RIP.

LadyAbrilyn -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 3:59:25 PM)

It hasn't really hit me yet........All I can say is that he will be sorely missed.......

dreamlady -> RE: David Bowie RIP (1/11/2016 5:13:18 PM)

I remember that show, my brothers used to watch it all the time, and got me hooked on it, great show, what a great reminder, so many good acts on that show, David Bowie being one. He will be missed... Makes me think of the song "Rock n Roll Heaven" by the Righteous Brothers,

One of the Cathedrals near my home town did this tribute to the starman today
https://www.facebook.com/StAlbansCathedralOfficial/

As Oside said, his records were a part of my life too. I remember first hearing him when I was 11, then he was on top of the pops, and after that...well he was different, he was glam, he was androgynous, he was punk, he was rock, he was blues, he was and always stayed different.

Mitchell Toy's take on the death of a music icon.
