From your site

Effective January 1, 2000, Senate Bill 23,

You seem to have a rather elastic definition of recent". This law is 16 years old.

well Tamir Rice died because of one....

When you can't get your way through normal channels, redefine, redefine, redefine. It's one of the most widely used political ploys.

Today they require registration of those newly reclassified tommorow will they demand they be turned in? They have done it before.

Yep anything to give them an excuse. But remember since no one has tried to formally repeal the second, or to ban every firearm they aren't trying to take guns away.

Not quite news.

But it does show that California stupid is as California stupid does.

I hear tell in one area you get fined if your lawn turns brown and you get fined if you water it. Now there are companies that will come out and paint your lawn.

You wouldn't catch me dead there. If I was a truck driver and was offered a hundred bucks a mile to take a load there I would refuse, and that would be alot of money from here.

A few years ago we had a drought.
Due to this the city gave citations to people who watered their grass.
The base gave citations to people who didn't.
We had a housing area which was under dual juristiction.
The people there would get a citation from the city if they did, and the base if they didn't.
Fourtunately the city cops understood their problem so they chose not to pass out citations.

I was based in Montery for a year in the 70's.
At that time I decided that the state needed padded borders.
Nothing they have done since then has made me doubt that.

They also declared shotguns with revolving cylinders to be assault weapons.
The circuit judge is an assault weapon?

There is currently a drive on to put the repeal of this and the other 7 equally stupid laws that were passed at the same time on the ballot.

It doesn't matter, the laws should not have been passed. What, now we have to rely on cops' discretion ?

There are so many laws that now there is selective enforcement. That turns the cops into judges. That is NOT how it is supposed to work.

Agreed, it was a stupid situation and a stupid incident.
The base commander issued the must water "reg" on his own.
He was afraid the grass would die and then the IG would show up and gig him for brown grass.
The military got so rapped up in things that had nothing to do with the mission that they lost contact with reality.

Great, but the point is THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO. Politicians all over have no sense of the Constitution or anything else, and in California they are especially bad.

And that bill about the assault weapons you dredged up from so long ago that I was actually in good health, the way it is written even toy guns could be considered assault weapons. Any with a certain type of stock and shit like that. A water gun could get a kid landed in jail. (it does not seem to mention that red tip) And speaking of the red tip at the end of the barrel, just wait until someone gets the idea to put a red tip at the end of a real weapon. Oh dear, what will they do then ?

If they hadn't fucked this country up so much this would not be a problem. Decades ago many people had guns in the glovebox of their car. Kept them in dresser drawers and taught the kids not to fuck with them. But they were at the ready and the crime rate was a fraction of what it is now. Of course overpopulation is another reason for that but nonetheless, people did not even consider shooting people over a parking spot or a pair of tennis shoes.

This is progress ? If so, the progressives need to go before it is too late and it really is like the movie "1984". And actually it is pretty close already, and in some ways worse.

I am about a decade and a half older than you but when I was in high school everyone carried a pocket knife and nobody got stabbed for the very reasons you are talking about.
