I'd like some opinions on hoods and sensory deprivation--pro's and cons please---what do you as a Dominant derive from it---what do you as the submissive derive from it?

Thinking about putting a hood on people in the middle of a July....    Somebody has a serious sadistric streak working today.

noooooooooooooooo!  He hasn't requested it.  I haven't told him that the idea of one makes me sick to my stomach.  If one were to ever show up......well.... "The dog chewed it up Your Highness, really".   Lol!

Don't think it will be an issue here because thoughout all his years of experience, He has never used one, nor shown any interest. That is just fine by me!

I had my first blindfolding just recently with my first face slapping, man oh man, it threw me all vertigo! I liked it...smiles. I never was drawn to sensory deprivation, but I can see how it helps one drop into subspace very rapidly. Endorphins are not only caused by pain... Im finding out that my Dom has many ways of bringing about this state, and most of them stem from my mind.. blindfolding is pretty yummy.

There are those who it triggers a panic attack in due to a form of claustrophobia. So be careful.

I've only worn a hood once (though I've been blindfolded on numerous occasions).  The hood was a much more intense experience and triggered a very vulnerable feeling/subdrop experience for me in which my dom stopped the scene and had me talk about what I was feeling.  He hypothesized that it was the anonymity that got to me.  I just remember feeling very lost and vulnerable and suddenly I was weeping and couldn't seem to stop.  He hasn't used it since, but maybe it wouldn't be so upsetting during subsequent sessions since I've already experienced it once.

my Master uses a latex hood on me regularly and it has become a "treat" for me.  Sensory Deprivation (seeing - hearing - and breath control) puts Him totally and instantly in control of every aspect of me.  It is an instant "high" for me.  i cannot see Him or hear Him, and He can put His finger over the tube for breathing.  Talk about subspace!  The latex hood has my vote 100%!!!

I do adore you Steel and your elegant slave----actually he was trained this way--the panic attack is Mine---lol. I am very interested in people's experiences with it. <smiles>

**In addition to claustrophobia, be aware of inner ear troubles. Some people with chronic inner ear problems become nauseated or dizzy when being blindfolded or having a hood placed on them. It's usually not as bad if they are lying down.**

Sensory deprivation .... a wonderful way of being made to focus on how my body is really reacting to outside stimuli !

Sensory deprivation is an amazing experience.  That said, I am not claustrophobic but I do suffer panic attacks - but I have never had an attack during a SD scene.  I believe that is because I know and understand that the person I am with has control of the situation and control of me.

I find it very enlightening to discover what triggers certain responses.  I enjoy visual deprivation its fantastic - yet when combined with audio deprivation - thats the one that places me most on 'edge' than anything else (especially with my synaesthesia as it is like losing a 'best friend') and I am always amazed at how my body responds. It is amazing how more responsive the entire body becomes when one loses a sense.  I do become slightly disorientated when I lose the synaesthesic ability and that can be quite distressing if not handled carefully, but sofar, I havent really become hurt - but its more like experiencing a mourning period - if that makes sense.  Sight, hearing etc - I realised I just take for granted - losing the syn however is like losing an internal part of me.

I dont find SD to be 'freeing' like bondage effects me - in fact I find the opposite.  Breath control I do not associate with SD - I see that as a different aspect of BDSM.

Hoods come in so many forms - I have never been a fan of complete hooding with breath control - and not tried that as yet, although I would be intrigued to experiment.

The first time I had a leather hood put over my head I about swooned!  The smell of the leather; the dark, quite inside, the feel of his hands pulling the laces tight, buckling the blindfold securely in place; I liked everything about it.  My sight was gone, my hearing restricted…I couldn’t speak, really; I certainly had no idea what was coming.  Talk about total vulnerability!

I promptly began my search for one myself.  It took a couple years but I found exactly the right one (and not even all that expensive…all things considered):

I'm surprised I don't sleep in it!  LOL

blindfolding is new for me, and it seems to make a much more selfish experience.  i have never gone much into objectification, and if that is His desire, ok.  but it plunges me so deeply into myself that pain is almost wasted on me.  i dont know how to say "um... You could do that alot harder and longer"

i was locked into a heavily padded hood a number of times; the laces were covered by a zipper (locked), the inflatable gag was pumped full (locked on), and the blindfold was padded (locked on). the collar of the hood was locked. added to that was a posture collar. my ears were plugged before the hood went on. omg, what an awsome, awesome flight...

Yes, I like using them on a sub tied to the bed with earplugs and pump gag in conjunction to the hood.
That way you can crack your sub hard on the ass and she can't hear or see it comming!
Nice reaction from sub in sub space!

Subinsouth, it's a way to make your sub more helpless and have more control over her.

Complete rage and fury.  Blindfolds/Hoods are not something that i have ever been able to adapt to.  They have been tried several times, the only thing that instantly comes to me is to harm the person that put them there.

I got my hood for valintines day one year......ok some girls get flowers and candy I get a hood and shackles. I feel so at peace when the hood is put on... the whole ritual of putting it over my head, tightening the laces, the smell of the leather, hearing the lock as it is shut. and then the complete and total loss of control. The headphones as they go on over the hood hearing nothing but the white noise. Yeah pretty incredable feeling . The not knowing what is going to happen next.
I realize that hoods are not for everyone but they have this girls vote each and everytime
