But, Jesus Christ! We don't want them executed. Shit!

He's such a fucking retard. Anyone who dares think that cops are killing too many people OBVIOUSY wants cops killed instead.

The incident in Florida was less than 3 months ago.

He lied on his back and held his hands up. He never had anything in his hand.

He was shot.

Which has nothing to do with this case unless you are one of those wackos who think that the cops are out to see how many people they can kill.

So then we see ...

After my post in response to yours, which stating that the guy in Charlotte should have just held his his hands up, you went back and edited your post to erase that particular item, after I pointed out that the guy in Florida still got shot with that approach.

Here it is;

quote:

I don't know about you but even if I am holding a book like you want to believe and the cops yell at me to drop the gun my hands would not only be instantly empty and over my head.

--------

Which has nothing to do with this case unless you are one of those wackos who think that the cops are out to see how many people they can kill.

It was you who claimed that hands up was a cure-all to prevent these incidents, not me.

No I claimed that hands up was the best thing to do.

Yeah.

Just like the episode in Florida; one less caretaker of an autistic guy holding up a toy truck.

Do you feel 'protected' from all that now, inveterate chickenshit that you are?

Considering all the shooting of caretakers of autistic people caretaking autistics, the shooting of a 12 yr. old boy with a bb gun, three cops emptying every round they had after the blockade had already been run shooting even when the threat was half a mile past them, the guy in Tulsa with no weapon and hands down , even completely freaking out when behind vehicles that protected them from harm, in Charlotte ...

Remind me again, who are the "gun nuts" here?

Again you don't know what you are talking about, the caretaker survived and was back at work withing the weak.

And here's another thing.

I lived in Charlotte, so I know what complete fuckwits the police there can can be.

I'm 'not normal,' so I go for walks barefoot because that's what I've always done in the summer. It was only since 9/11 that this routine became 'an issue.' They actually called it in, before approaching, but I was 'pulled over' as a pedestrian on three such occasions. Since 9/11. Never before.

Yes, I know that if this happened in NY state I would be hauled in as a matter of course, but jeebus ... I only went barefoot walking around the block or sometimes a few blocks. This where it's still 88-90- degrees after dark and only 9:30-10: at night. I felt like asking the young pup cops; "did you grow up in Norway or something, or are you actually just that stupid and paranoid about nothing?"

It is absolutely astounding how many cops in Charlotte have no clue they were actually born and raised in the South East. Or maybe they were, but police academy obliterates all previous knowledge and life experience theretofore. That's probably it. 9/11, the great mental/cultural obliviator.

The honest answer from them would have been (and one of them actually answered in a roundabout way to the truth); "We are trained to be paranoid about nothing," because that is how they have been, as in many other police departments, trained since 9/11.

Literal hair-trigger response is part of police training, and has been for at least 15 years now.

I mean, christ, it amazes me how slow things in the cultural realm are moving, alongside how quickly things are going down the tube in every other regard.

Is it that nobody is paying attention, or that the mega-conglomerate media are what it's all about, now?

Kim Kardashian for VP.

Am I doing this right?

I still have no clue who the fuck she is, and I never want to.

Never bought a TV in my life, but have inherited one or two,

Once I looked for a minute or two and saw what everybody else was being 'informed' about, I wanted to smash it.

They found good homes before I actualized that inclination, in any case.

I would never make a good policeman.

I know exactly what I'm talking about.

The police were aiming to shoot the autistic fellow because of a report that he was waving a gun.

It wasn't a gun, but a toy truck.

His caretaker was yelling loudly "he doesn't have a gun! It's a toy truck! Don't shoot him! It's a toy truck!"

Even with that firsthand information, and even with the police sniper having a high powered scope, they still didn't get the fact that neither people in the street presented a threat to anybody, nor that the 'gun' was in fact a toy, nor that the guy they eventually shot knew what fuckwits the police normally were, and felt the need to scream the facts as loudly as he could in order to save both his and the autistic man's life ...

The police sniper with the high-powered scope couldn't see that the autistic fellow he was trying to kill had only a toy truck, and hit the caretaker in the leg instead in that effort to kill.

Terrible eyesight and terrible hearing ... this a police sniper ...

But all up to snuff on 'terrorists,' right?

Glad you feel safer now, pardon the rest of us not feeling likewise.

If you could read you would have known that I said the cops screwed up.
You would have know before I pointed it out that it was not the autistic man who was shot.
And you would know that nobody died.

BTW

The fact that no one died is NOT a defense of those cops.

Well thanks for that.

As I am neither saying -as fact- that the guy in Charlotte didn't have a gun.

We just don't know yet, all I'm saying.

But even then, if that be the case, the Charlotte police on the scene were well protected, as per training being behind other vehicles. There was no immediate danger to them. I mean, well shielded, and four directly aimed guns vs, one un-aimed gun, if there was one, alone in the open, by himself.

I am going on the hesitant assumption that Scott actually had a gun within the incident, just so you know.

Even if that proves to be so, I still don't approve the police handling of the situation.

An inarguable and inescapable correct conclusion, Ed.

Sad that Bama doesn't feel the awful tragedy resulting from this unjustified and irresponsible police action.

I should say, as a former Charlotte dweller and inhabitant , I find exception to one of your earlier posts trying to present Charlotte as some 'divided community.'

There is much more cultural and community development there than would be the case in many other cities further north. Just don't get me started on where the greatest bigotry lies.

If there are any "50 dollar steak lunches" going on in uptown Charlotte, there would be very few of the thousands of office workers aware of it in any case. Please don't do that 'feed the narrative' thing.

But in any case, as you might have surmised from earlier comments of mine, the Charlotte police are indeed a bit skittish, and were leaning that way even before 9/11.

I think that there must have been some national effort in bringing things to the state that we see now. Shoot first, and answer questions to the press later.

I remember as a wee lad how police dealt with difficult situations. I saw all this stuff when walking to the store; some woman beating her man with a dog chain, or some man punching his woman, etc. The police just dealt with it by numbers, by billysticks, etc, even every once in awhile somebody having a gun. In that case they called out 5 more cop cruisers and all crowded around. But somehow, nobody got shot.

Charlotte is a much better place than it was 30 years ago. Even as better-than-decent as it was then.

This 'police thing' seems to have taken over the country, 9/11 style, so please don't place improper attribution to one locale in that regard.

Read my subsequent post.

It is entirely possible that having grown up in another era, I am entirely out of my element, here.

But I will not hold back in saying that today's police are the biggest chickenshits I've ever seen in my life.

Aiming at a guy with a toy truck; terminally stupid. Hitting his caretaker instead; unfathomably stupid.

THAT would be your 'terminally stupid.'

As they so blatantly displayed in the Charlotte episode.

~FR

I did not want to start another thread with this Dallas shooting but it gives us a different view of the tragedy that befalls a family when the cops over react to an erroneously perceived threat.

This black youth was mentally ill. His mother called the police. Not sure what she expected them to do but obviously she did not expect them to kill her son.

The kid had a screwdriver in his hand.

The cop pulled his gun out and ordered the kid to drop the SCREWDRIVER.

Within seconds the policeman shot the kid, claiming the kid came at him with the screwdriver. But if you look closely and quickly . . it happens so fast . . the kids feet are on his front porch slab when he is shot and he falls forward. You may have to replay the 40 sec mark a few times.

Why were the police so close to a boy who they knew to be mentally ill?

Why won't citizens pay for police training in managing and de-escalating their approaches to the mentally ill?

These categories of police shootings of mentally ill seem somewhat common in the greater Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas.

I don't know how anyone can watch this and not feel distress.

JASON HARRISON in DALLAS

Concealed carry was leagal in 37 states the last I checked and it has picked up a few so what is your point?

The point is that you and a few others keep making such a whoopdeedo about the 'crime' of having weed and a gun in the same place, when more than half the states have legalized weed and by your account 37 states have gun laws that allow CC.

Just what is your point?

Is North Carolina one of those 37 states?

While North Carolina is a state that allows open-carry, dies this law also allow for ex-felons to carry guns?

Is there a clause in that law in which people carrying a gun are also free to be using marijuana at the time?

Of course NC does not allow ex-cons to carry.
I do not know if NC has ccw, I do know that it is the only state in the south that does not recognize a AL ccw.
Of course not, anymore than there is a clause allowing you to be drinking while carrying in NC.
There is also no clause in the law that makes pot illegal that say that if you have a firearm on you it is then legal.
It is particularly a problem when the felon has a stolen firearm.
It is a unfortunate situation but Scott brought it on himself, even if the cops didn't get on a bullhorn and announce that there were police there so please don't commit any crimes.
