I work with literally dozens of liberals who are Christians as well. I personally know many, many more. They don't hate Christians. They do however have issues with people who tell them that if they were good Christians they would hate liberals. They seem to get that a lot.

given the nature of conversation, we find ourselves frequently speaking in general terms. finding exceptions to general rules don't actually make them less so.

I like to think we are all also wise enough also to recognize that, so that every time people write something, they don't have to say "generally speaking" or "I know there are exceptions to this, but..."

and im not trying to "negate" anything brought up in the OP. I offered these up as what I called them, "companion pieces," they are a part of the larger conversation when it comes to religion, faith and our social/political worldviews.

and the op did indeed have to do with "liberals and or conservatives" in so much as the latter of those are identified with republicans, or the "right." (whichever one Vincent mentioned.)

If the GOP's adoption of Trump proves anything, it is that when push comes to shove the right's attempts to cling onto power will be as ruthless and devoid of principle as The Mop himself. The US can look forward to 4 years of wholesale gerrymandering and ever increasing restrictions on the right to vote as it seeks to entrench itself in power in the knowledge that its core constituency is slowly dying off. Nothing will be off limits.
