I was asked recently what my symbol is...and gave my answer in my journal <a snake curled around a Domme's ankle>  and i am wondering what others symbols are...and how it relates to who you are.
 
for mine,  i do tend to have a sharpen tongue when allowed <so yes, this boy loves voice restriction>  and i am highly protective also, hense the curling, but when i looked deeper on it just now, of course i am curled around the ankle, it is always my choice as to wether or not to submit...and a snake has always been seen as a strong character.....

For me it would be a cat most likely or a dragon. A cat is independent, wild, a fierce protector of it's young and territory yet curls around it's owner's feet and purrs.

There's mine... Taken from the cover art for my demo CD. I've been tweaking it since I was 15 or so, using it as a symbol for myself on and off since then. Simply put, I love wolves for their majesty and sense of independence, and I wanted to make a symbol that was original but recognizeable.

And I'm pretty sure Freud would have said something along the lines of, "Das machen die Fliegermaus eine kleine Handtasche, meine Freulein!"

my symbol is a rose, i wear one asmall silver one on a silver chain all the time it is also  in sliver ink on both my dress collar and play collar.  to me it represents my gentle and sweet side as well as representing strenght  and being able to protect myself *ss*

my Lord has also put His symbol on me and kyra, we both have a cutting of crossed swords on our right thigh.

Im not sure I have a symbol...but I do have a talisman and that is the turtle.
It represents long life and luck in Chinese culture, and in many cultures is symbolic of the earth. I have a wonderful book of native american poetry called "Thirteen Moons on Turtle's Back" I read to my unmentionable. Each poem represents a different "moon" throughout the year. Another of my favorite books for elfen creatures is called "Old Turtle".
They symbol presented itself to me early in my twenties on a day when I was literally buzzing with openness to the Universe. I took it on immediately as a symbol of patience. Patience has always been something Ive had to consciously work on cultivating in myself.

By all accounts, Ive come a long way since I adopted the turtle as my talisman, but there are still days when it serves me well to remember that

*'Slow and Steady' wins the race

*it is unwise to leap into choices before weighing them, and

*it is just as important to have patience with oneself as it is to display it in dealing with others.

Thanks for a topic that effectively turned my thoughts inward in a healthy way.

I have a tattoo of a shell pierced with an arrow...Master Archer's arrow.

This wasnt always mine .... But about ten years ago I was marked by  a Dominant  just after collaring... Well less than a week later * shrugs* The things I found out ...  Well I asked for release and was left witha  very UGLY  fresh black tat ... I  went in almost tears to  my  tat  guy and told him GET RID OF IT !!!! Well as he drew the lotus over the form of the claw he told me a story and how the lotus should sybolize the growth that came from what I  had learned ..... And now when things seem sucky I go hunting pictures of lotus flowers and regroup



Lotus flowers symbolise purity, spiritual growth and enlightenment - the religious path.

Starting life as a seed, it grows in the muddy darkness at the bottom of a pond. The darkness is like our ignorance - we can't clearly see the truth about life. The seed grows toward the warmth and light of the sun just as humans naturally grow toward the warmth of love and compassion, and toward the light of truth. The mature flower floats on the surface, bathing in the full light of the sun, well 'anchored' but moving freely according to the flow of the water - the changing current of any situation.

I actually have two symbols that are personal to me - the Wolf and Butterfly as a combination (which is a symbol of the disease process that killed my mom) and the Blue Rose - for rarity, beauty within danger, and a sense of peace in uniqueness.

Symbols? More than one, the primary being my avatar. Which i'd like to wear on my right shoulder. Another the ouroborous. (sp?) And the Celtic cross.

Pink peep bunny.

It soft, cute, cuddly, adored and hated, but has an odd grip of fascination.  As such, it's often disarming and underestimating.

Plus, it's just fairly ironic to all the other sides of my personality and intellectual discussion style.

Wolves were predatory competitors with early man and wolves symbolized ferocity, cunning, stealth, cruelty and even evil - but because of their close-knit pack behaviour wolves also represented loyalty, courage, fidelity and victory.
