All stuff they haven't done. Keep fooling yourself.

Heard a piece on the way home -- Xi has a team long in place, experienced, and they know what they want. Trump and his "team" are still fumbling to figure that out. Already Beijing is taking the Secretary of State's bumbling words and sharing publicly that "See! The US accepts that we are the major power in Asia and control the Western Pacific."

The GOP can't agree on tax cuts or health care even among themselves. They have no clear idea what they want.

What's that called when that happens? Oh yeah: rudderless.

As to the OP:

Short term thinking the GOP will regret as demographics favor their opposition moving forward.

Point is, demographics don't favor Republicans long term, and currently, the Democrats have a fired up base.

This will bite the GOP in the ass over and over and over and over.

It's short term "gimme!" not strategy.

Which frankly is typical of today's GOP.

How dare they play by the rules the Dems did when they were the majority?

I think if you have to have this explained to you, you aren't being honest. Clearly, the changes stopped short of the Supreme Court.

And the refusal to hold hearings was McConnell's doing.

So were the 79 judicial filibusters during the first 4 Obama years, more that half the filibusters in the history of the Senate.

Pure obstructionism.

But more to the point now -- demographics don't favor continued GOP wins. They are shortly going to be the minority party for a very long time, and this was an incredibly short-thinking pretend win that's going to cut their throat bleeding long into the future.

Not a very strategic group.

I totally disagree with your wild guess, we are far from rudderless. But keep going to your cartoon news and praying to your demographics gods, even though they keep failing you. Maybe your guys can at least eventually get a poll right though, wouldn't that be something?

That Obama had a lot of justices filibustered speaks to the partisanship of those leftist lawyers who he tried to anoint for life

We have seen how robed leftist dictators have no respect for the actual laws, how they write laws and usurp legitimate power from the elected branches

The system is breaking down because of that. Leftists have no respect for the ruling authority, be it an officer on the streets trying to maintain order or the constitution, or the duly passed laws of the land, or the people's choice of a president by the established process

Interesting that you see observable results as a "wild guess."

But since your post also confuses the past with the point about the future, there's a lot of "interesting" thinking going on.

Once you praised McCain to the skies. Now he's McSame, for example. You make it up as you go.

And so do your "leaders." The very definition of "rudderless."

67 votes to repeal the ACA, and when you have the power? Nothing.

No one has done tax reform since the Reagan years (with Democrats, no less). Now the GOP is going to magically do it? They couldn't the last time they had power from 2001-2007 either.

They need more strategy and less blind bluster.

You talk about the future as if you think you have a clue

The future has yet to be written.

One thing is certain, Democrats are openly declaring civil war by refusing to acknowledge election results and with their rabid disregard for civility and the rule of law on every level, both inside of government and out.

We shall see how this turns out only as it turns out, not before

Well that's a bizarre little spin. Kinda like refusing to acknowledge who's president by refusing to hold hearings?

But yes, we shall see.

Clearly your felchgobbling has rotted your syphilitic brain. you obviously dont know what the rule of law is, civility is and acknowledge is.

But you do not have a sack, and your breath stinks of old Il Douche dingleberries and putinjizz, compound gimp.

"by refusing to hold hearings"???

Remember, and you agreed to this - you are being dishonest with only yourself here, I have you on record

It was the Democrats who took us down this road. Chuck Schumer lectured that a lame duck Republican would never get a Supreme Court pick past a Democrat congress, so please don't insist on being so foolish as to expect Republicans to do things in any differently than that

There are hundreds of examples of leftists refusing to respect the rule of law, from assaulting citizens for peacefully assembling at speeches and rallies to Obama refusing to prosecute Black Panthers caught on video trying to intimidate white voters at polling places, to leftist judges making new laws from the bench....There is nothing bizarre at all about what I am posting, if you are willing to acknowledge the facts. Your "Trump Russia" hysteria, was concocted purely for the purpose of delegitimizing the new president.

Obstructing his judges, because you do not respect the fact that the last election was a declared referendum on who voters trusted to fill Samual Alito's seat

Keep crowing about the 2018 midterms, I am telling you that obstructionism and hypocrisy isn't nearly as popular as you think

Again he is saying that the Republicans should play by a different set of rules, and cheerfully accept the disadvantage.
But he is not a leftist, he just cites the facts and the facts always favor the left.

Republicans go 'nuclear' to ram through Trump court nominee

Republicans have taken the historic step of changing US Senate rules in order to ram through confirmation of President Trump's Supreme Court pick.

They invoked the "nuclear option" after Democrats used a tactic known as a filibuster for the first time in half a century to block the nominee.

Denver appeals court judge Neil Gorsuch is now set to be approved on Friday.
The move will leave Congress even more plagued by gridlock. Republican John McCain said: "Bad day for democracy."

At stakes is ideological control of the nation's highest court, which has the final say on some of the most controversial US legal issues, from gun control to abortion to workers' rights.

After falling five votes short on Thursday of the 60 needed to confirm Mr Gorsuch, Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell retaliated by voting 52-48 along party lines to rewrite the rules.

Republicans go 'nuclear' to ram through Trump court nominee

guffaws

Imagine enabling a mad lying fuks every move

I sure wish there was another phrase that the Congress / Senate could use.

Everything we do hits the front 10 pages of every newspaper on the planet.

Within 2 hours.

That we were the first (and only country) to use the "Nuclear Option", only reminds people of our history.

Again (damn you're a slow learner), agreeing/disagreeing with what helped get us here doesn't change that it's a dumbass move.

2018, 2020, 2024, whenever it happens, it's a strategy that ignores simple demographic reality.

And yet again (do you guys read these posts, or just keep re-posting your opinion?), none of that changes that it's a dumb ass short-term thinking move that is destined to bite Republicans (who are not favored long term by the demographics) in the ass repeatedly and potentially forever.

So McConnell can feel all self-righteous while he tries to figure out how it all went so wrong.

Keep praying to your failed demographics god, he was supposed to deliver you from Trump too, wasn't he

How did that work out for you

Illegal border crossings are way down and the economy is turning way up so your food stamp president's strategy is going to fail you now too

That's their strategy, along with counting on mindless voters getting all of their "news" and other information from MSNBC and other Democrat party organs

(How did that work out for them the last time, who controls everything now?)

When they pull their "dumb ass moves" they expect us to just roll over and take it

Trump changes everything. The RINOs are out, the fighter is in

Gotta say, McConnel is doing okay though.

How's this for your demographics?

http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/306210-10-senate-seats-that-could-flip-in-2018

Democrats reeling from a devastating election face a daunting task: the 2018 Senate map.

It favors Republicans in a big way. The GOP will be defending just eight seats, while Democrats must fight for 23 — plus another two held by independents who caucus with Democrats.

What’s worse is the fact that many of the seats they must defend are in states won by Republican Donald Trump.
