jlf1961 -> Okay, a few questions about the Paris Agreement... (6/6/2017 11:59:00 AM)

And President Trump's reasons for pulling out (which makes me wonder if he even read the damn thing.)

First, all countries were to set their own goals, and there was nothing binding, the only thing any of the other countries could do is 'shame' the country that didnt meet the goals...

So, how in the hell does that obligate the United States to do any thing?

The money for the green fund (as Trump called it) were, again, not mandatory, with no way to force a country to pay into the fund...

So, again, how in the fuck is the US obligated to do a fucking thing?

President Trump said in his televised speech announcing his decision that the agreement prevented the US from building more coal power plants, while allowing China to build more...

The agreement does not do that, in fact coal is not mentioned once.

Trump also claimed that China was building 'hundreds of coal power plants" again, a flat out lie, China has in fact stopped or cancelled coal plants and devoted the effort to building wind farms and more hydro electric plants.

So, what the hell was he talking about?

Oh, and for the record, the Environmental Protection Agency was not created by the democrats, but President Richard Nixon, in direct response to conservative and Republican party demands for something to be down to preserve the environment.

It is really annoying as hell when the programmable conservative posters on this board can be persuaded to ignore history, ignore the acts of republicans and then turn around and claim it was liberals and democrats that started programs that were the brainstorms of the GOP.

They go around screaming 'fake news' every time a reporter farts and then promote fake, revisionist history.

We already know the dems will lie through their teeth on a lot of stuff, but when they get caught, they at least have the fucking balls to admit they lied. The GOP cant even do that.

They coin terms like 'fake news' and 'alt left propaganda.'

The only thing worse is a fucking ultra right wing conservative christian making the claim that Jesus Christ was a white man with long straight hair.

The President is trying to put some distance between the US and the rest of the world and this was a clear way to do so.

Trump has found he can't really do things. So he has to appear to be doing things by undoing things.

It's a damn shame because there is a hell of a lot of money to be made and thousands of well paying jobs in renewable energy and now it looks like it's all going to be made by the Chinese.

Yes, but Trump Trademarks will flourish in China, and that's what America First means.

Termyn8or -> RE: Okay, a few questions about the Paris Agreement... (6/6/2017 1:03:04 PM)

Let me make this perfectly clear.

If I was in charge I would not agree to do anything or not to do anything. We are going to pollute, and we are going to do it until every USian is working and can afford a cars and clothes and all that shit. You people have had free rein on our markets for a long time and have profited greatly at our expense. Now comes payback time. It has been open season on the US consumer for too long.

And your numbers are irrelevant. You quote a figure on Chinese per captia CO2 emissions, well yeah they are lower. Know why ? While I have tried to educate people a little about China in that they got AC in their cars, the got highways and cities and all that and even with the bowl of rice a day they make they can pay their car insurace and all that, there is still a contingent of population which is pretty much in the dark ages.

Maybe you people think that the Chinese worker busts ass 29 hours a day and goes home on a one pedal bike with a flat tire but in the cities that is not how it is. It is just like here in many ways. Like we have a contingent of those who live in the hills and whatever, they got more. The last CO2 they emitted was last Thursday when they cooked the squirrel (or cat) they skewered out in the field. That and their donkey or cow farts.

China has X amount of manufacturing and trade centers, placed for easy access to trade routes, dat means ocean folks. Also, they are placed where it is easier to get to natural resources and other things, like being near an electric power plant. Sewage and so forth. Roads. They'll build a road for you, even let you name it as long as you provide jobs.

And China did not give a shit about the environment until people literally got sick. Like us, they are in it for the money. You weigh the costs, healthcare over scrubbing the air a bit, the scales tipped on them not long ago and they became more concerned about the environment. This is when the workers started getting sick. It is, in the end, all about money.

This is the kind of greedy scumbags that Trump can deal with. All they give a shit about is their money, their olady and kids and maybe their cars. And Trump alienating half the world, that is good.

As you know a fw states have made pot legal. Know why the feds can't make it legal ? Because of a treaty. In my opinion, and I believe this shared by the founders of this country, I believe that no treaty should have any effect on our domestic laws. To me that is an act of treason, of giving up part of our hard earned sovereignty. With Brexit, the Brits are learning this lesson.

Years ago a treaty was introduced for consideration dealing with weapons, guns. It was only supposed to deal with weapons manufactured here and shipped out overseas. But the smart people caught on to it and figured that certain things could be construed to limit our sovereignty and the full weight of the NRA and JPFO and whatever else went whole hog against it. Bottom line, if it can be made here anyone can stick it in a UPS box and send it anywhere they damnwell please.

This is like the federal regulations about growing wheat. See, in law, jurisdiction is not determined by lines on a map. The feds have little jurisdiction really unless state lines are crossed. But in commerce, iff you grow wheat, since there ARE people who grow wheat and it DOES cross state lines and has an effect on the economy, YOU, as a private individual, even just growing wheat for your own personal consumption, come under thousands of pages of regulations under federal code. I know how to fight that shit but you don't, and even if your lawyer does he won't do it because of his oath to the Bar.

Really, was there a treaty involved when the US got involved in WW2 ? Didn't need one, this MF is trying to take over Europe, HEY, my Grampa is there !

But now the US claims jurisdiction over the whole world. That claim is false.

T^T

A lack of ink on a piece of paper in Paris has no effect on what American companies can or cannot develop and manufacture

The Chinese will steal any technology we develop anyway, and they would damn sure manufacture it under any Democrat president

[:D] Very rarely can any alt left radical debate reasonably, without resorting to such fallacy crutches such as that juvenile and trollish ad hominem
