The best statement in the article:

When I became active in the Republican Party in the mid-1970s, it was the party of thoughtful men and women who were transforming America’s domestic policies while strengthening its moral leadership on the global stage. As Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan wrote in a July 1980 New York Times article, “the GOP has become a party of ideas.”

Next best:

And then, everything began to change. Republicans took control of Congress in 1994 after nationalizing the election into broad themes and catchphrases. Newt Gingrich, the marshal of these efforts, even released a list of words Republican candidates should use to glorify themselves (common sense, prosperity, empower) and hammer their opponents (liberal, pathetic, traitors); soon, every Republican in Congress spoke the same language, using words carefully run through focus groups by Republican pollster Frank Luntz. The demonizing of your opponent began with the repubs (right) during this period.

Lol, 'ol Newt took a page right out of the democrats playbook.

You mean for just one example when Tom Delaney had a 'mid-term' census taken in Tex, to gerrymander 5 additional cong. seats ?

And even if there was a scintilla of fact in your statement, the repubs were pretty fucking slow. It was 79 years to obtain consecutive repub majorities in the house when Gingrich and co. somehow managed that.

Plus, in all of my adult life, I have never heard or read the dems or independents demonize their opposition and call repubs and their supporters...traitors and much more.

It's all Hilary had, which is why she lost.

But Hilary's gone. It's the rest of America he'll have to answer to now.

Still all any of you have are your hysterical "hate Trump" "Republicans are racist sexist bigots homophobes" and disingenuous "vote for us and everything will be free"

Until we become just like Venezuela... At which time your Dear Leader type will be firmly in control and we will be powerless to change things back to the economic model that worked for over 200 years - freedom, and free markets

Do you think anybody would even have a problem with all of the gay bashing from the Republicans if a sizable minority of their elected officials weren't hanging toilet paper over the cubicle door whenever they go for a shit in an airport and can't find a cubicle with a glory hole drilled in the side?

mnottertail -> RE: Amazing Article from former Reagan and H.W. Bush Adviser (6/26/2017 12:08:58 PM)

No such thing occurred in America nutsuckers, real republicans like me know that America was a protected economy since its independence up until the nutsuckers came into full throated felchgobble. A protected economy is what made America great for a little less than 200 years. When nutsuckers pretended to change history did the 'free market' (which never has been, will be or is on the face of the earth) ever come into the full throated felchgobble of the retards.

This is what I meant by posting that the alt left hijacked the pride idea for their Marxist ideological purposes

Obama's church, Hillary's church, they themselves were totally against gay marriage only a few years ago. What changed? The decision to use "gay rights" as a wedge issue, to divide Americans even further and foment hate. Just like illegal immigration, they were against that until they realized they could use it

They hate gays, they hate Mexicans, they hate blacks (in Hillary's case) - but they can sure use the power they buy with treasury dollars form those and other groups, and through extremist identity politics legislation

And here their useful idiots on the bottom bash Republicans as faggots every chance they get, as part of their displaying their moral superiority

If you don't want to be simply laughed at and dismissed, you'll need something more than absurdly ridiculous straw man positions.

And weren't you just whining that the right was now against free markets because Bezos?

You are a moron. A crony alt left monopolistic 1% elitist buying politicians and printing his own propaganda against politicians he cannot buy... Pulling the strings of you useful idiot puppets, who really believe this is the road to some sort of "progressive" "liberal" (Marxist) utopia, has never been even close to "free market" anything

Musicmystery -> RE: Amazing Article from former Reagan and H.W. Bush Adviser (6/26/2017 1:25:39 PM)

Well, if there's legitimate concern, the justice department can block the merger.

But there are several multi-media mergers lead by very wealthy and powerful men--you don't seem to mind those.

What's the difference? Apparently . . . books and granola.

This president has mentioned the Bezos monopolistic empire, and coincidentally the Washington Post keeps attacking him with unnamed anonymously sourced bs fake news stories

Odd how you alt left radicals love your 1% crony oligarch control now, too. With their pet politicians and vast propaganda empires

"Hate Trump" is all you've got

Don't quite know how to break this to you but bill's wife lost.

You're confusing me with a Democrat.

But yes, I've no problem with the wealthy, whatever their political stripes -- though I do think they should be taxed (in fact, I think ALL the Bush era taxes, including the middle class ones, should be rescinded).

Politics hasn't much to do with it. I admire Buffet and Bezos, for example, but I'm not fond of Gates (or MSNBC).

Incidentally, I'm not much of a fan of the NY Times or the Washington Post anymore, after the bullshit that got flung around in 2016. Journalism is largely dead.

There ARE a few good journalist minded cites, but they tend to choose stories that serve their interests, so hardly unbiased (if indeed accurate about what they do report).

Funny, Il Douchovitch has been running around quoting WaPo anonymously sourced fake news lately like it is real.
