I specifically stated that I was not accusing you of anything, but you insisted on reading it so you could be mad about it. And you have accused ne of being a bigot from our first contact.

I watched a youtube video with a guy speaking about multiculturalism. Something he said jumped out at me as damn true: If you start looking for racism everywhere, you'll find racism everywhere. What comes after that? You'll find racism in everything and everyone. [paraphrased; explaining it not being quoted]

I've seen people rant about 'Cracker Jack' snack as being racist. It's sad and amazing, really.

I saw yesterday where someone is complaining that the costuming in Battle for the Planet of the Apes
was racist.

Sorry, that was War, not Battle.
Battle was the 70's movie.

Jesus, DS, you are really uninformed about the history of racism in America, the wound that keeps on bleeding. Haven't seen it but I suspect the guy in the video was indulging in some dismissive shit.

oh dear

The doctors say I have been awake 272 hours and require a stick to bite down on. Verily i scoffed at them and declared them witches and had them burned at the stake.

i always wondered where you mad hatters & pussy draft dodgers cowered, with your bone spur and big toe nails.

His dismissal of you point pretty much proves your point.
Any intelligent person knows that if you are obsessed with and only look for something you find it, even if it isn't there.

Interesting that DS talks about a video without providing a link to it. So, we should take him at his word? Maybe if you had a real computer you could watch it too.

Notice that this event happened on March 27th. Just another attempt by a racist poster on this forum seeking to bring discredit upon our citizens and to deflect our attention away from the epidemic of police shootings of unarmed civilians in America.

Race Baiting Here

You still have no reason to call me a racist. This was a threat to the whole community not just police.

It's the go to insult for the left since Obama was elected and in my opinion one of the main reasons no one believed it when they claimed Trump was one. Much like the little boy who cried wolf, they have lost peoples trust. And then they wonder why they keep losing elections.

LMMFAO!!! You're really acting like an idiot now, Vince. Here's a question for you: If there was no video, would it really matter? That is, does someone saying it on a video make it any more legit than my typing it in a post?

But, since you questioned it... Peter Thiel: What is Multiculturalism Really About?

Unfortunately, the video began buffering at 4:39 but I was able to get the gist of his argument. I am satisfied that his point is to dismiss racism and multiculturalism by fraudulently reframing them. This is a well known debater’s trick. . . . setting up strawmen.

Multiculturalism arises from the growth in the presence of none-WASP cultures in the U.S. It is not as Thiel claims an effort to portray Western culture as evil. He is either stupid or misinformed. More likely a propagandist for the wealthy, conservative libertarians. He is obviously a very successful man, so he is not stupid. But he is speaking from a specifically biased point of view.

Multiculturalism is not so sinister. It is simply the same attitude that my ancestor migrants brought with them when they arrived. They wanted to protect their unique cultural factors and not have them submerged and completely lost by total assimilation into the American melting pot. Latinos and Asians newly arrived are saying that America is a salad bowl of cultures and not a melting pot, and that is a good thing. It is a recognition of the arrival of people who are different in culture than the prevailing western European culture and the simple fact that these “southern hemisphere” cultures will soon outnumber the West European heritages of America. It is the reality that the nation faces.

On racism, you really don’t have to look very hard to see that America’s original sin is still ubiquitous. You can buy into Thiel’s propaganda if you wish but all you have to do is look at the complexion of the faces in Trump’s rallies to see the lie of Thiel’s statement. As a nation we have 230 years or so of persecution of blacks and Asians. The awful history is quite clear. The denial of racism is simply an absurdity proposed by people of power and absorbed by their ignorant adherents.

What I find especially sad is that you, a person who seems to be an intelligent man, would dwell on a couple of simplistic bumper sticker statements by Thiel and accept them without close examination and questioning. That tells me that your opinion was already slanted and you were readily receptive to his empty nonsense. Very disappointing.

Your computer wouldn't play the whole u-tube? Maybe you should take it back to toys are us.
Again your world view demands racism everywhere so that is what you see.

I appreciate the slight compliment, and want you to know I think the same of you.

How can you rebut his points when you haven't heard them?

Now that I have had a look at the complete video I can see the deceit that you pulled off here. Shame on you for it, DS!

Bama and I were talking about the problem of cops shooting unarmed black people and cops being ambushed in predominantly black neighborhoods. You come along and introduce a comment about multiculturalism and racism that you lifted out of a debate on CULTURAL DIVERSITY ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES and headlined by WHAT IS MULTICULTURALISM REALLY ABOUT.

Neither of these topics has anything to do with what is going on in the streets of our cities nor what has happened in our national history.
Context matters. Placing Theil's remarks about college culture in the elite schools has fuck all to do with our history. Again, shame on you, DS.

Taking Thiel's comments about college campuses and trying to extrapolate them to America's social history would clearly be a dismissal of our national reality. Our historical racism and xenophobia has been and continues to be an embarrassing counterpoint to the false pride we take in being a "nation of immigrants." Clearly stupid shit on your part, DS. Zero respect for that bullshit.

So, get back to me when you or your puppet have something of substance to say in response to me observations on the racism and xenophobia that have been salient trademarks of American history. Try to use your own words and ideas if you have any. Let's keep the discussion on American culture and not on the narrow activities that take place on college campuses.

bounty44 -> RE: Another ambush of cops. (7/15/2017 7:18:28 PM)

"If you start looking for racism everywhere, you'll find racism everywhere."

this is true whether the author is addressing the issue of diversity and multi-culturism on campus, the history of racism, or whats going on in the streets of America, or a trip to mars.

and that said, that particular sentiment does not originate with peter thiel. its actually even been said in the forums before. so no, context does not really matter. its simply a true statement.

of course you don't see it---but like most other lefties here, perhaps even all the more so, you are absolutely exasperating to talk with, or to read.
