Seahawks' Baldwin says NFL is sending a message over Kaepernick

Not signed yet.

Free to take a knee and disrespect the flag, sure - but no one has to hire him, either. This "freedom" street, runs both ways. Amazing to me, Kaepernick likes his Castro shirts. What does he think would happen if his communist gods caught him disrespecting them and their flag, no matter what they did

Which they are racists and everything else. Slaughter minorities and dump them in mass graves just for giggles

Status: offline 		I believe his style of play was effective for a few years but the NFL defensive coaches have developed counter measures to compensate. Some quarterbacks have been able to alter their game to stay in the league... he has not.

But... he would be a fair backup to injury and should have easily found another position. I think there is no doubt that he is being blackballed and I am personally glad he is. I am certainly not against anyone standing up for their beliefs even if opposed to mine but the way he went about it was wrong in my opinion. I would have respected him if he marched in a protest or even vocalized his beliefs on his celebrity stage. I even understand his frustration with our government and how it has changed course on race relations in the new administration. However I can't abide someone who disrespects those that have died for his rights. I could even see something like this in an emotional moment but when the mistake was pointed out to him he still refused to change his actions.

Just because we have the right to say most anything we like does not mean we don't have to face the repercussions for our words... he is. I do believe this will blow over somewhat and he will get another chance but i think it would be a mistake and a public relations disaster for the team that does it...at least in the short term.

What we are seeing here is the sensitivity of league marketing and image with the game's popularity a player using them as his soap box. Add in disrespect for the somber inspiration of our country's national anthem...and this whole affair becomes even more sensitive.

You're right that the owners (league) doesn't give a shit about anything else but their PR and money. This wasn't just a political statement from a player. It was a PR nightmare that the league is trying to get out from under.

However, if he were a Michael Vick, Ray Rice or Ray Lewis...he'd be signed already.

I wouldn't have signed Vick, funny though how you will argue that crimes shouldn't count once they get out of jail.

What we see now is an attempt by the NFL to just sit back and take the easy way out. They are now...washing their hands of it and him.

What should have happened is Kap should have been fined after the first protest for 'conduct during'a game' which it technically was and then take the much lesser PR hit for that and it would have nipped all of this in the bud.

The idea is that the NFL should have dealt with this by saying when they issue that original fine. 'Mr Kap has a right to protest his politics but the NFL simply asks that he do so without using the showcase if their games as a vehicle'...that's all.

This has really caught on...have you seen ?

I did not argue for the criminals allowed back in. It was sarcasm directed at the NFL because they re-signed those that were criminals.

The NFL pays no price now at all...he's out. They pay a PR price for assuming that no team should sign him even though any could.

Let's see if the Ravens make an offer.

As long as you approve of the method they use.

even if opposed to mine but the way he went about it was wrong in my opinion.

That was also the opinion of the king and parliament towards jefferson, adams et al.

I would have respected him if he marched in a protest or even vocalized his beliefs on his celebrity stage.
