No argument (mine...and my staff's did rise however...over double in 24 months) but...run the numbers...Bosco has it right on one aspect....millons were forced (by federal edict) to purchase insurance (that in many cases was paid for by the subsidy) that they neither wanted...nor (see federal subsidy) could afford and, by virtue, deductibles rose stratospherically.

I know someone here is good at this stuff....someone track down deductibles (average) in 2004 or 5...versus today (or even 3 years ago).

That will tell the story.

I've been a fan of insuring the uninsured ever since the discussion began, way back in Clinton's era....but....someone has to pay the bill.

Anecdotal I realize, but here is what Obamacare did for me as opposed to the company medical plan I had just before it went into effect...
My weekly payment went from $15 to $66.
My deductible went from $500 to $5000.
My total coverage per medical event went from $4,000,000 to a max of $600,000.
My prescription payment coverage went from 80% to 30%.
Under Obamacare because I was a senior citizen I was no longer eligible for life saving transplant operations, only pain meds until I died.
Of course I am now covered for mammograms and neo-natal care.
Basically the Affordable Care Act made any kind of necessary care totally out of reach for me.
And to add insult to the whole situation they force me to buy medical care I can't use or be fined at tax time.
Just a great plan! Covered on paper, but not in any practical or usable manner.

Certainly not the only story...MM's is apparently different, mine rose stratospherically in both monthly cost, as well as deductible. Thankfully, neither of those occurrences had any lasting affect on me personally, but, in I'm sure, a 1,000 news articles I've read since the plan became available, I've heard the above story, variations on the above....some not even capable of understanding the damage that occurred, others just simply waving around their policy, excited that they have "coverage" (like a kid with his first car), yet it's entirely unusable at their income levels (deductible....equivalent: can't fill the cars gas tank).

Obamacare is a sham. The current proposed health care plan is horrible.

No one cares enough about the real issues....to actually solve them.

Hint: It's none (at all) of what they've worked on....or are working on.

(And they're simple....and effective).

The fact of the matter is that the "free market" has failed miserably when it comes to health care, both in terms of cost and access.

Health care costs in the US are the highest in the world, and that was so before 'Obama care,' in fact, 50% higher than cost in the next highest country.

The government is FAR more involved in other countries, but rates in the US are much higher and climb far faster. So "it's government involvement" doesn't seem the cause.

What DOES help is that we have awesome medicine. But it's expensive, and in the US, we practice heroic medicine, largely because we're quick to sue.

I asked an orthopedic surgeon, an acquaintance (so a good natured question), why my broken clavicle cost ten times what it would cost in a labrador retriever who got essentially the same care. His answer: because in the history of veterinary medicine, no retriever has sued for malpractice.
