When I saw that cartoon it reminded me of a story from Katrina. A man was in the path of the flooding; As the water started flooding a jeep came by and offered to take him away. He said no Thanks God will take care of me. As the water rose an army ton and a half got to his house and tried to save him. He said no thanks God will take care of me. When his house was cut off a boat tried to help. Again no thanks God would take care of him. As he was sitting on the roof a helicopter came by. He said the same thing. He drowned. When he saw God he said I believed in you and thought you would save me but you didn't, why? God said what are you talking about, I sent a jeep, a truck, a boat, and a helicopter!

FR Let's remember that God SENT Katrina too! So he better be sending the "jeep, a truck, a boat, and a helicopter" to fix the mess and devastation he made! Natural Disasters like what happened in Noah's Ark, is 100% God's work of destruction of his creations whenever he throws a tantrum.

That's a really old joke: there's a clip of Dave Allen doing that one back in the early '70s and he'd probably swiped it from Tom Lehrer or somebody who was doing it twenty years before that. Nice to see it's got a second wind.

My understanding of Job is that everything that happens (including the weather) is too God's fault as that whole book of the old testament makes it clear that God is deliberately tormenting the poor bastard to prove a point to Satan. If homosexuals deserve to die because they have an itch for cock and 11/9 happened because they weren't being rounded up and disposed of and because models dress like tarts on the runway, I find it very hard to feel censorious towards people on the other side of the political divide using analogous arguments. Some of them might be taking the piss, after all, unlike Falwell, Robertson or the late Phelps.
