Never saw it, but .. seen one, seen 'em all.

They usually have a rambling quality to them, convoluted logic about the sky is bue therefore you must love Jesus... then it get's to the you don't love jesus, so you blow up small puppydogs, and steal children's candy, and to prevent you from stealing wall-mart paper plates, 'God' will drop a cadilac on your head, the resulting impact will piledrive you to heaven where you can see your folly before being loaded in to a trebuchet and launched strapped to a barrel of flaming pitch in to hell....

When I was a teenager, I remember seeing a message painted on a water tower that read, "Jesus or Hell". It bothered me because people actually thought you only had two choices.

Also, I respect other's spiritual/religious beliefs...I just don't want them shoved down my throat.

No, beliefs should not be shoved down one's throat. The guy/girl the OP talked about, to me, that isn't shoving, but if they do it again, then woe to them.

Level,

Just as that message is not, "shoving down someone's throat," neither is my polite message that God, not Satan, is the evil one, and that Satan is the one who will accept us no matter what we do.  God, on the other hand, will love us forever, until we fuck up.  Then he's too cool for us.

Yours,

benji

Good morning, benji. Well, I don't believe in a Satan (except the one that plays hockey ... that's for you NHL fans lol), or hell, or much of what is found in religious texts. I just don't think the guy/girl that sent the message is horrible for doing so, unless they keep at it. Block and delete, or a quick "hey, don't send anymore Jesus stuff to me" should suffice, in my opinion.

Since technically this doesn't fall under any of the categories for reporting the email...I'm wondering, who can come up with the best retort?

Not that I'll use it to respond to this oddball, but I bet all of you can come up with some good one-liners...:D

The message was deleted so I am not sure if it is the same one, but I got something like that as well.  I did report it to CM as spam because I considered it an inappropriate random mailing not of interest to Me and totally irrelevant to the purpose of this site.  I suspect he sent it to many others.

I did reply to the person, telling him I found his reply very inappropriate to this site and suggested he take it elsewhere, then blocked him.  I am here to meet other like-minded folks and hopefully a wonderful submissive male, not to get preached at.

Tell them that you belong to the Church of American Secular Humanity, and ask them to make a donation...checks should be made out to 'C.A.S.H'.

I agree on the borderline harassment issue and the inability to properly report it. When I see posts or get mail from an obvious Nigeria/Ghana/Etc. scammer -- so obvious from their atrocious nonsensical syntax and spelling -- there is no way to report it either...

I want to add for those who insist on respecting all religious beliefs(you know who you are): there are zealots out there who will gladly kill you not only for being a kinkster but in general too, all in the name of their god and religion. And they are vocally/politically supported by a small minority who is in turn tacitly supported by the larger, so called peaceful, religious majority. So how much respect will you have then, when a bomb blows up the Planned Parenthood office where your family or friends or innocent people work? When someone is literally getting their head cut off? When those too frail to defend themselves get beaten to shit, or even death, by some self righteous "defender of god's word"?... Pllllleeeease, lol!...

Great bumper sticker I can't find anymore: "Dear God, Please Save Me From Those Who Love You"

I don't know if the OP got a message from the same person who messaged Me, but the profile for the one who messaged Me is now down.  Not sure if he took it down voluntarily, or if CM shut it down because of complaints, but the important thing is that he's out of here.

I totally agree.

I'm sure many are wondering what I did post to him. Remember that this was sent immediately after I received the original...;)

" Dude, you're fucked in the head.

Ask God, he and I are on great terms."

His profile was approved, then deleted. I'm sure many more than just the three of us that stated so in this thread received the same form letter/quote...

One should only poke a Bible thumper when nearly done through. Allow 25 minutes per pound, and then poke - if the juices run clear you're OK. (Sorry if someone's beaten me to that - dont have time this morning to check the whole thread)

I dont mind anyone being religious, but having spent 25 years studying different religions, I think I am probably well enough equipped to know that the one I chose is just as valid as the one from another culture that many in our culture assume I should choose or should have chosen.

Its a curious thing christianity - no one cannot agree with, even love Jesus for what he is reported to have said and done in the gospels (even if we know that much of whats there is lifted from other earlier sources, and that the "surviving" gospels dont include everything attributed to him). The problem is all the other stuff - the OT and the stuff in the NT that follows the gospels - that is used as the basis for churchianity - a form a fascism specifically designed to keep populations under control rather than bring them closer to God, and also to ensure a healthy crop of bible-thumpers in every generation to perpetrate and continue that control, as well as preferably to expand it.

Not many people realise that the bible was not written that way from the start, and that originally there were many diverse sects of christianity, each with their own gospels. The bible as it is, was formulated specifically to "prove" the veracity of a single one of these sects and thence to destroy all others by threat of, or actual violence. Its only in more recent centuries that some texts and viewpoints of these other sects have been discovered - to us, they dont seem that heretical, but I guess back then, as now for these bible enthusiasts, anything divergent from the "truth" was evil, thus justifying the breach of several commandments and every teaching of Jesus to overcome them.

The sad thing about religious conflict and these people who try to convert others all the time, is that all true religion in the end is about one thing - that we are all One in God. Thus it comes down to a choice similar to which flavour ice cream would you like? when it comes to religion. Not everyone likes the flavour you love, so why make them eat it - unless of course you can throw away or poison all the other flavours beforehand, because you know whats best for others is your choice and no other? Destroying others' ice cream factories might have been possible in those early days, but today we all have tasted something of their wares and realise that ice cream is just ice cream, whatever flavour we prefer.

My advice, if you like ice cream at all, is to try as many flavours as you can - sooner or later you will find the one for you. Dont let anyone make that choice for you, as in the end we are each personally responsible for ourselves - if you're daft enough to take the flavour offered to you, just because its offered, its you that may suffer indigestion later, not the ice cream seller.

E

The trouble with this idea being that provalone has such a righteous taste, it is probably immaculately concieved and has no need of such blessing.

This thread is getting pretty insulting.  You got a bad e-mail, delete it.  Don't go offending other people's religions.
