Emotive is caring more about the fetus than the mother to be.
Women who support choice are baby killers.(his own words)
Thats not emotive at all is it.

When a pregnant woman is murdered, or maybe killed by an impaired driver, the person responsible is usually charged with two deaths. It is a baby and not a bunch of cells.

When it can breathe, eat and move its bowels and bladder under its own steam, then it's a person.
Hell, let's go with Plato and say a child isn't a human being until its soul enters its body when it's four or so...

So everyone on dialysis isn't a human being to you.

FR My ob/gyn referred to my son as a parasite while I was pregnant, while explaining to me why I was losing weight and sick all the time. But what would she know.

What amazes me is the 2nd amendment peeps, who are anti abortion, but want their right to defend their lives.
but a woman cant make decisions without a man or the government interfering.
Not to mention healthcare.
Is Nevada an obamacare state? Probably a good job as it happens.
But healthcare is a "privilege"

I'm guessing he was a Libertarian for Romney and now that it's Trump all of that is behind him.

Knowing who is in power makes me nervous that this is the first step the Christian fascists are taking towards completely destroying women's rights.

Not according to the law. People are often charged with 2 deaths when a pregnant woman is killed. The baby doesn't have to be living and breathing.

I think this is simply to protect pregnant women while making penalties for killing pregnant women heavier. Because it's murdering a potential birth giver, I mean, the potential that she had the intention to bring this "parasite" into the opportunity of being a "living and breathing human being". (I don't mind at all if the law is changed to allow the murderer defense to bring evidence that this women already has planned to abort her baby, to reduce the charge for 2 deaths to 1 death, as if she was planning to kill her own baby already, then the baby life should not count)

But as I said, I think end of the day, we need a very unemotional way to measure things.

I believe the 24 weeks rule is based on the time when the baby is capable of feeling pain. Somehow, universally right now, most official government accept studies that says, it's at the 24 weeks mark.

You know, abortion blockers, I wish they would just go Africa and adopt a starving and dying baby instead to save life. No point blocking abortions. I think it's worst when kids are born to parents or countries who can't afford to keep them alive and they starve to death. That's more cruel than aborting them when they are in the stomach.

Those people need free birth control, free abortion, and they need help IF the baby was born.

.....or be a profit center.

What this oh so 'christian' country needs, (all countries) is a much more robust nationwide (even federal) adoption system.

I say for all pregnancies after the 20 or 24 weeks pick one, are by signature, either born and kept by the mother or born and removed to be put up for adoption. If one is to cherish the sanctity of life, let's provide some resources to support that sanctity.

Is it involuntary manslaughter if a pregnant woman engages in some risky behavior and miscarries?

In 38 States, there are feticide laws making it a double murder.

The issue really is when a fetus is granted human rights. Roe v. Wade didn't define that separation point, though it did attempt to give some sort of guideline based on the trimester approach. Viability is currently thought to be 20-24 weeks, though I think we could all google up some story about a baby being born prior to 20 weeks and still surviving. The laws referred to in the OP are attempting to define a specific point in time at which a fetus is considered viable, and, therefore, owning human rights. If a fetus is a "human baby" prior to that point at which abortion is illegal under most circumstances, then abortion is murder and a criminal act is committed every time there is an abortion (and possibly every time there is a miscarriage). Every. Time.

While there are many Pro-Lifers that would have no problem with that, it's simply unrealistic.

Here's my actual stance: I oppose abortion in every case where it's the result of consensual intercourse, and where the pregnancy and childbirth doesn't pose a greater than reasonable risk to the mother's life. I oppose my being able to make decisions for yourselves in this area. And, I oppose public funding for abortions, in every case.

One of the repubs who voted on the 20 week ban has had to resign after it was found out he urged his mistress to get an abortion.

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2017/10/04/congressman-tim-murphy-affair-abortion-retirement-reports/

Earlier this week, it was reported that Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) had allegedly urged his former mistress to get an abortion. This bombshell allegation came on the heels of Murphy admitting last month that he had an affair with the woman.

Of course, due to his pro-life and social conservative stances, the scandal over his affair and accusation that he asked his ex-mistress to get an abortion was likely going to have a major impact on Murphy’s political career. And he decided to address that today.

In a statement given to KDKA political editor Jon Delano, Murphy said that he would retire at the end of his current term:

“After discussions with my family and staff, I have come to the decision that I will not seek reelection to Congress at the end of my current term.

I plan to spend my remaining months in office continuing my work as the national leader on mental health care reform, as well as issues affecting working families in southwestern Pennsylvania.

We have accomplished much in the past year through the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act and there is much work yet to be done.

In the coming weeks I will take personal time to seek help as my family and I continue to work through our personal difficulties and seek healing. I ask you to respect our privacy during this time.”

According to Delano, Murphy was given two choices by GOP leaders in Washington — either resign now or announce that he would retire at the end of his term. He chose the latter.

The woman Murphy was having an affair with at the time reportedly sent a text message to Murphy in which she told him: ”You have zero issue posting your pro-life stance all over the place when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child just last weekend when we thought that was one of the options.”

At the time, both of them thought she was pregnant. It would later turn out not to be the case.

I think I'm pretty sure that most women carrying a child, don't think of it as a parasite.

Parasite is no less emotive a term than child.

It does, almost always, differ in the emotion it conveys, though.

I'm enough of an old fart to remember when the term "abortionist" was a worse epithet than "serial killer", "pedophile", or "sheep fucker".

What Roe v. Wade really did was allow for physicians to actually consider an abortion instead of faking up records of unusual vaginal bleeding to justify a D&C. Yeah, that was what a trusted family doctor could do for you when abortion was highly illegal. If you were poor, it was the back alley hack for you.

I remember the trial of one back alley abortionist that gave a discount if the patient would dance for him wearing nothing but thigh high rubber boots then finish him off with a B.J.

Opinion:
1> The government should stay out of moral and health care decisions, period. Leave it to physicians and spiritual advisors to counsel a person's actions.
2> Federal funding for optional medical procedures brought on by a personal decision is a different issue from bloc grants to a charity. The public coffers shouldn't be funding abortions that aren't medically necessary.
3> Private charities, such as "Planned Parenthood" have no defined right to a bloc grant. People on government assistance should have, as part of medicaid, family planning services paid for on a case by case basis. Bloc grants to private charities should be phased out of the federal budget. (Bloc grants to Planned Parenthood was started during the Nixon administration back when the "War of Poverty" was young and hopeful instead of a lost cause.)

Safety nets, yes. Sinecures, NO!
