Status: offline 		I was just told that a female "s" type should not have a significantly higher income than the male "D" type because it givers her too much power.

Insecure D and Id go one further...not a very good D in my honest opinion. If an s is financially successful, D's job is to encourage the s's success. Set her up to succeed, not tear her down to protect his fragile ego

I can understand how the /s having higher income or just more money could skew a power exchange relationship. For me any interference with my money or assets is a hard limit, leading me to believe my own internal /s is “hedged”.

Yes, the submissive and Dom relationship is not a total power exchange anyways so who would care? But a kajira...she must hand over all the funds she makes as a paga wench or Attorney. Hopefully she is an Attorney or Doctor. It's more enjoyable to have a female Attorney kneeling at your feet handing over her funds, especially if she is a democrat.

All my female slaves are card carrying tree hugging democrats. I have written about that over the years. It adds a bit more zing to a scene when you are torturing a female democrat in collar and cuffs.

But, the reality is that money is power only if you value money as status. If you don't value money as status, the only power it possesses is the ability to leave.

Agree with ThatDizzyChick .... that said, I have one more question.

How Dominant can a man really be, if he is insecure about a Woman's accomplishments?

Because like it or not, Income is a consistent measure society uses to determine an individual's accomplishments.

Thus I have to ask, does this Dominant have real intellectual value? Or is he just a weak kneed egotist?

Status: offline 		If you attach emotion to money, you have an unhealthy attitude toward money. You need to view it as a tool to make more money for a future time you can no longer work. As well as providing education for the next generation.

I wouldn’t give anyone who doesn’t see it from that pov any power over your income and assets.

And any d type who didn’t want me to be comfortable in my eighties or nineties is certainly someone to run far away from.

Money is a tool, no more or less. Any twit who got insecure because I owned a better set of screwdrivers isn’t worth wasting your time on.

The man who said it isn't really our friend, he's more of an acquaintance.

My personal opinion is that he's an "Uber Dom". He has to remind you of how dominant he is and thinks being a Dom means acting like a jerk to "s" types.

But, it did lead to the question: If money is viewed as power, does it skew a D/s relationship?

I think it could, but I also think it depends on the two people involved.

It isn’t power, it isn’t retail therapy. It’s a tool.

But your acquaintance really doesn’t have anything to worry about. The fact that he does view it like this means no one with money is likely to be foolish enough to get involved with him.

If his girlfriend won the lottery, would he immediately kick her to the curb?

I don’t view money as status, but as autonomy, which would encompass the ability to leave, among other freedoms. IMO, that is no small power. But I practice family law so I see the consequences of people being stuck because they lack that power; my views are undoubtedly skewed by what I see all the time.

To be completely honest, I don't think he has relationships that go that far. (I don't think he likes women, even though he's hetero)

It seems like he has a few women at a time that he calls "slaves" and we never see them more than once or twice with him. One his "slaves" is a friend of mine now. She met him when she was new (he prefers new) and she says that he treated her like a booty call. He'd call her once or twice a month to have kinky sex. She stopped seeing him when he wanted her to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

But, he did say that he thinks the only way a relationship where the woman makes more than the man can survive is if the woman signs over her paycheck to the man.

(I thought M was going to bite his tongue in half not replying.)
