LadyConstanze -> While I feel sorry for the sensible Brits (12/1/2017 3:01:39 PM)

I can't help but laugh at what is happening in the UK, alright, fair loss of the worth of our property, but luckily we don't need to sell, we can rent out and that will always make money, but hey, that happens when you listen to idiots like Trump, Farage (or Führage), and personally, I quite enjoy watching it all crumble, I don't enjoy seeing kids going hungry, not having coats to wear when they go to school, but for all the Brexit voters, hey, I hope you really really suffer

I don't know but apparently your single brain cell gave up living a while ago, darling.... So how is it to be a far right wanker who hates others because you know you are inferior (rightly so, but that is your problem, toots)?

Sovereignty is not the same thing as having a free hand to do what whichever moron you have as president demands.

like so many other posts here by the left, the "criticisms" have no basis in reality and are juvenile and meaningless.

Don't try and take the high road with a claim that only those on the left post juvenile and meaningless posts. You know fully well that you and bosco are just as if not more guilty of shit, meaningless posts than almost any other poster here.

For the most part, bounty and I can and do discuss topics. For the most part leftist trash cannot and does not

Little howler trolls like to constantly launch your childish fallacies, deliberately sabotaging even your own threads - because you cannot debate the facts

Sometimes we get drawn into that. Sometimes we are just calling an idiot an idiot, too... Just like right here, right now.

Because, of course, not one word of this quoted post is concerned with personal attacks, broadbushing, off topic whining, and an attempt to make the subject about you rather than the subject under discussion.
How does somebody as stupid you appear to be even remember to breathe?

He didn't say it was only those on the left, but as usual you prefer to reply to the voices in your head instead of the words you just quoted.

while there have indeed been a handful of times, regrettably, when some posts to mnottertroll and probably thompson have been along those lines, I know no such thing.

ive made ~6000 posts, feel invited to search them for all the "shit" and "meaningless posts."

then just to be good, because you are all about "science" you know---make sure you do the same for others so that youre comparing actual numbers, and not the partisan delusion you want to cling to.

and here's the criteria, as I said in the post you are responding to---posts whose sole or predominant purpose is to be insulting and that have no basis in reality.

good luck, i'll be looking forward to the results.

in other words, put up or shut up.

and what bosco and thb said!

Very true.

But then the Scots and Irish have lived with their separate cultures, legal and political systems inside a larger polity that they in practice have little democratic control over for hundreds of years. It's called the United Kingdom.

They understand that having control over your lives is different at community, regional, national, federal and European levels. They were never really swept up in the fantasy that peeling back one of those layers would give them greater control. They have had to live with being distinct inside a wider system where everyone does not think the same way as them. Interestingly when many Scots decided that they wanted more independence, it was from the British state not the EU, of which they wanted to remain a member.

The hard Brexiteers will have to deal with a terrible reality soon. Despite the vote having gone their way, most people in the Britain do not share their political ambitions. There is a majority for close links with the EU and a trade deal which will ultimately mean working together and compromising with Europe.

Those wanting a soft Brexit (with a trade deal or customs union) and the pro-Europeans have much more in common with each other politically than the hard liners. May is having trouble trying to placate the hard Brexiteers in her party, which is messing up negotiations with the EU, but those people are a minority in the country.

When this is all over the no-immigration, WTO rules, UK alone in the world Brexiteers will find themselves back where they belong as an extremist fringe in UK politics. I think many of the hard liners know this which is why they re so strident about claiming that they are a majority and everyone agrees with them.

The majority of the people who voted in the referendum voted to leave the EU's political institutions, but they did not vote for leaving with no agreement nor for the Tory right wing zealots' immigration, taxation and trade policies.

Brexit has elevated the hard liners' political power but they do not command a democratic majority so, if justice and democracy prevail, they will not be the people who end up running Britain.

As a European from outside the UK, LadyC has suffered very directly at the hands of those displaying anti-immigration prejudice.

What she says is harsh but understandable.

For me, I just want the position of the members of my family who are living here legally as EU citizens to be sorted out and for a trade deal to be struck which protects our communities.

This hard Brexit attitude that Britain can make it in the world on its own without some form of accommodation to allow European trade to continue unhindered will be a price we all have to pay in our standard of living.

It is a big lie promulgated by a bunch of right-wingers rich enough to ride it out, just as they have ridden out austerity without having to make family sacrifices.

Leaving the EU and cutting our own throats do not have to be the same thing. This is about people's lives not an obscure political principle.

When I read this it reminds me of all the trade agreements the US has with various countries and how Trump is fucking that all up... he is doing the same thing, imo, its gonna cost the US quite a bit but then they/Trump will just blame what happens on those other countries and not put the blame where it belongs, on the US govt & the Americans that voted for Trump.. oh well... time will tell, of course..

I really wish that the UK had voted to stay.. now we will have to see how the break-up goes and where things fall.. and discover those unintended consequences...

I am assuming the OP is talking about this.. a huge drop in luxury/high-end properties? well, real estate doesnt go straight up forever, there are dips and crashes along the way and perhaps this was just going to happen anyway at some point... not just to London tho, there are many major cities around the world that have had property values increasing at break-neck speeds.. I dont expect any/many of them to go on too much longer..

The problem with the left is they all assume they know best. The EU as a whole is a shambles and in no way represents the referendum on being in or out back in the 70s ( I know as I voted in back then )

EU leadership is run not by equal Member States but by Politically driven idealogues. Sooner or later the whole thing will fall apart unless there is some sort of reform to move the EU away from becoming some sort of Super State. The original idea was, and should be, a Common Market.

If they had not been so intransiagent with Cameron, Brexit would not have been an issue. Even now the EU dont seem to want to even discuss a fair solution, so they (EU) need to take a fair share of the blame.

Oh yes, lets not forget the decision to leave was a democratically elected vote.

Oh, I'm sure you do. You're what we in the colonies refer to as a worthless piece of shit.

Let's face it, you're just wedded to Britain's class-based society and consider yourself better than the proletariat. You are, of course, mistaken. Then again, you always were depressingly stupid.

Yes, if only Lady C could learn from your own example of striving throughout your life to prevent any impulse to look down on anyone, A.
