quote:

“The world is laughing at us.”
—Donald Trump, a million or so times before he became president (and a few since he started the job)
Actually, the Washington Post stopped counting the times Trump said this at 103, and that was a year before his inauguration. In 2017, he often added a back-end to that remark: “They aren’t laughing anymore.”
The fact-checkers never had to dig deep to disprove that Trumpian assertion. The first year of Trump’s presidency seems to have brought more international guffaws, snickers and contemptuous mocking than even the goofiest of Barack Obama mom-jeans moments, George W. Bush malapropisms, Bill Clinton charming sleaziness and Gerald Ford’s trouble with stairs.
The world laughed at Trump in 2017, but it often turned its derision to the country that elected him, as well.

And all of the RWNJs rejoiced, having finally achieved their goal of making everyone realize just how stupid so many Americans are.

Why is this written in the past tense? Is there a suggestion that the rest of the world has stopped laughing? I can assure you this is not the case ...

I suppose its a pathological liberal trait to not be able to see anything good that comes from a person or policy simply because they don't like the person or the policy.

as is an inability to notice that while some people and places around the world might share your childish derision, other people and places don't.

so all in all, this post really only shows your pettiness, peevishness, and inability to discern.

Is it a conservative pathological trait to not be able to see anything good that comes from a person or policy, simply because they dont like the person or the policy,
IE Hillary, Obama, Bill, ???

Maybe you could point out any posts you have made that sees anything good in the liberal side of things? or "lefties" in general?
How about atheists??
What about islam?
How about feminism?
How about a leftist pov instead of townhall?

can you???

Which people and places support Trump?

From a USNews report of a survey back in June:

"Trump is also less likable than former U.S. President Barack Obama – by a significant margin. A median of just 22 percent of respondents believe Trump would do the right thing in international affairs, while a median of 64 percent thought the same of Obama during the final years of his presidency. The global confidence in Trump is similar to or worse than that of President George W. Bush in his second term.

When compared to Obama, Trump garners more positive views in only two countries: Russia and Israel, where 53 percent and 56 percent of people had favorable views, respectively. Overall, the president's highest support comes from Filipinos, 69 percent of whom say they have confidence in the U.S. president. In Nigeria and Vietnam, 58 percent of respondents give him high marks. Among all respondents, 55 percent consider him a strong leader."

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/articles/2017-06-26/survey-shows-global-disapproval-of-us-president-donald-trump

This seems to me to be a pretty poor view of Trump across the rest of the world. Do you think things have changed in light of Trump's successes since last summer when that survey was carried out, hence the title of the article ' 'Survey Shows Global Disapproval of Trump'?

I didn't write the article, genius.
Also, excellent job of supporting your opinions with facts that prove it's actually not as bad as it 100% definitely is.

I get that you've buried yourself about as far up the ass of the RWNJ echo chamber as you can possibly go, but denying that Trump is an international embarrassment makes me think you have a learning disability.

http://www.newsweek.com/trump-approval-rating-putin-global-629195

quote:

across the 37 countries surveyed, a median of just 22 percent had confidence in Trump to do the right thing when it comes to international affairs. Seventy-four percent said they had no confidence in the Republican. Adding insult to injury for the former real estate magnate, global confidence in the man residing in the Oval Office has plummeted since Trump became president.
Trump’s predecessor, President Barack Obama, was viewed favorably by a median of 64 percent at the end of his second four-year term.
Keep up with this story and more by subscribing now
That dramatic shift has taken its toll on the image of the U.S. across the globe. A median of 49 percent now have a favorable opinion of the U.S., down from 64 percent at the end of Obama’s presidency.
Confidence in the U.S. president has taken a particularly severe hit among many of the country's closest allies: Germany, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan and Canada.

The survey was taken before Trump, who has proclaimed a slogan of "America First," formally announced the United States’s withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, meaning his international standing may have sunk even further. That decision was greeted with widespread condemnation internationally.
Trump’s ratings in many countries, notably in Western Europe, now bear a striking resemblance to those endured by George W. Bush during his two terms, in which the United States’s international reputation took a severe hit.
Even Russian President Vladimir Putin, considered an adversary in many of the countries surveyed, enjoys a healthier global reputation. Compared to Trump’s 22 percent, a median of 27 percent had confidence in Putin to do the right thing regarding world affairs. Chinese President Xi Jinping was slightly higher, at 28 percent. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was trusted by 42 percent, compared with 31 percent who said they had no confidence.
In a further indictment of Trump’s international reputation, a median of 75 percent said they believed Trump was arrogant. The views on Trump’s other characteristics do not get any better. A median of 65 percent said he was intolerant, and 62 percent said he was dangerous.
And while much of his notoriety before running for president was based on his stint as a personality on reality television, just 39 percent considered Trump charismatic. Even less—a median of 26 percent—said he was well qualified for the job of president. Only 26 percent believed that Trump’s major campaign talking point (caring for ordinary people) was genuine.

Notably, Trump inspired more confidence than Obama in just two countries: Russia and Israel.

I would have thought the "year the world laughed at the US" would have been 2013; specifically 21 AUG of that year.

Actually, you're almost there.

There are people that don't like certain policies ... let's say: "tax cuts", for example. They HATE tax cuts. The real problem is: the only tool in their bag is to dehumanize, when they have no good counter-argument.

They start believing the lies of moral repugnance that they're spreading and that affects how they start to perceive the people they're defaming.

I think it was Andrew Klavan who said it best: "The Right thinks the Left is wrong. The Left thinks the Right is evil."

It's an entire mind-set; actually, I'd go so far as a pathology.

I would have thought it was when US troops were killed in Niger and the cowardly pussy Trump went into hiding. And said no more of Benghazi, nor did his lackeys.

Quite. It's not like a single word has ever been published by anybody about how trickle down theory doesn't work, drawing on the forty plus years of it not working even slightly for examples. Anybody who objects to tax cuts because the money that's not taxed won't go back into the economy is a h8ter talking trash about their betters.

Of course.

We can say, though, that all the hoo-hah about tax cuts that "there will be more for investment" is tripe and dribble ("oil and trouble" being one variant).

People with means to do so only invest when they estimate there being a good chance of return. We already saw (8 yrs. ago) that if a return is not expected, nobody will invest, even when the US Treasury and the Fed were literally giving trillions away to that purpose.

When there is something worthy of investment, the investors will do so regardless of tax considerations. This even more so when we consider that "investment banks," hedge funds, equity groups, etc. are all doing this with other people's money in the first place.

But losers in life like to live vicariously by way of "their betters" buying more 200' yachts and more 3rd vacation properties, while notion of raising minimum wage evokes comments like "Oh no, comrades!", even though the latter would do a thousand times more good for the economy than any tax break.

All that "trickle-down theory" stuff did was to point out to us that there are a lot of 'golden showers' fetishists in that crowd. Given the site we're posting in, that's not a big deal, of itself. But wanting that for national economic policy is another matter.

No doubt, he's got that Rumsfeld-shaking-hands-with-Saddam blown-up pic as a poster in his bedroom.

"He knew."

We dealt with the guy for decades, sold him all this anthrax, but we had NO IDEA!
