No, I am not sensitive... I just have other things on My mind.  I was not offended at all, so please do not take that into consideration.  I just completely missed your jest and mistook it as serious.  Ooops.  Sorry about that.

SirKenin,

I am a selfless person, I am not doing these things to show people I am a good person, I am probably the most humble person you could ever met. I do my deeds generally in silence, I do not brag, I give money and help...and I have never ever asked for repayment nor expected it, this is not me.  Yes I have posted in several area in this forum, I want to help. I can not  help if a person feels the need to do what to me is such a small thing.  If helping a person in my efforts might sometimes means begging and putting my story out there I will.....it is never for me....I do this because I have walked the shoes people have been in and I have an intense need to give back. I do not expect pay it forward....I just hope someday a person does.

If you feel by reading my posts I am in any way tooting my horn, please feel free to email me, I am always up for a different view of how I appear to others. I am always a curious person. I do not nor want any valadiation or praise, it humbles me when I get it and I tell people, there is no need for thanks or anything.  I NEVER expect anything in return.

This is not written in spite or retribution..I am simply stating who I am

Thank you for listening.

Possibly better suited for a new thread--what does it mean to say one is a "good person"?  And are the "bad people" outing themselves for my benefit?

Not directed at anyone specific--just curious of what being a "good person" entails.

My personal opinion how I see people.  It is a complete personal feeling, everyone carries themselves to a certain standard and are all different and varied.

There may be bad people out there...I dont know..I do not define people.  I have found what some people may think is a bad person...still manage to do  good others.

Yes there are probably exception that people say are bad.....but I think good and bad are a mindset and subject to change.

I know people that label people as bad...yes done horrible things, but in the same token I have these same people to selfless thing.

I do not think it is for anyone to judge..This is just how I feel and that is only my thought and opinion.

I have no problem with a somewhat hijack of this thread....hell I do it all the time, benji was my teacher

well..this is the first time that i've heard the phrase pay it forward..
but it seems to me to mean..

that when you do a random act of kindness..you're paying in advance for a kindness that you will receive someday..

i hope that makes a little more sense..*^_^*

I am a musician and I had a fellow guitarist who I use to play with that ended up needing $100,000s worth of medical care and had no insurance.  (most of us musicians don't).  And I organized and held a benefit concert to help pay for his treatment.  We gave him all of the money.  And he was not a guitar player in my band at the time.  The cool thing was that once it started many other bands decided to join in.  And they all had to cover their travel expenses on their own.

It's more comforting for me to think that people will do nice things for others without thinking about when/how they will be repaid.  That demonstrates selflessness.

Fast Reply:
Years ago my sister got caught up in some very bad things with a very bad person. She ended up in Texas and through the grace of God, she did not end up dead. I was just a teenager, but I remember my family and strangers pulling together what little money they had to get her home and safe. She died a few years later, but I never forgot what family and strangers did to bring her home.
My brother was not a good person. He had done things to our family that just turned us all against him. The rest of my family had given up on him, myself included. He had hurt us so much with his lies and his treatment of us that it was very hard for anyone to forgive him. When he called me in Feb. 2001 and told me he was in a homeless shelter, injured and alone, my heart opened once again for him. My sister called me nuts for opening up to him again, I was already taking care of my mother at the time, but I went to him and when he was well enough, I took him home to live with me. I nursed him back to health (Or so I thought) and even gave him my old car to drive to try and find work. One night we were talking and he was telling me his story about how hard it was for him on the road with no money, no car to even sleep in and no one to help him. I cried with him when he told me of strangers who would give him money to live on while he made his way back to me. In September of 2001, he got really sick and ended up at the hospital coughing up blood. The doctor came out and asked if he had made any "end of life" arrangements. I said "I dont understand, what do you mean by that?" He put his hand on my shoulder and said "Didnt your brother tell you? He is dying of cancer". I could of fainted right then and there. No, my brother did not tell me. He told no one. He went to his chemo treatments without so much as a whisper as to where he was going. I was so angry because I saw it as selfish, he on the other hand saw it as a way to spend time with me in his final days without fear of me allowing him to stay with me out of pity. He died a few months later. But, I got the chance to get to know my brother and to hear his wonderful stories. I got the chance to heal the damage that had been done. I got the chance to love him.

Now, because of these two things, I am the first to roll down my window and give a homeless man/woman on the corner my change. Others may see that man on the corner as just a homeless guy. I see my beloved brother.

Pay it forward? I say Pay it backward.

Thank you for reading my long post.

Katy

I could not agree with you more.  I never expect or want something back, I just hope that the next person will show a kindness at some point in their life

MoGa

The hair is still standing up on my arms.  God Bless You

Everyone by know has pretty much got the idea that I got in some nasty messes, which I pay for daily.  My family has always been there for me, I am very lucky for that. I have had major issues with my middle son, hell sometimes I just hate the way he is, I ignore or find ways of not being around him, but I have always been there for him when he tried to commit suicide, or went into a psychotic manic episode.

And you are damn right, because it is about paying it backwards in many cases.

Sage,
Just when I start to think that no one really reads what is written here,  you respond to my message. It took a while to type it and it took a huge amount of courage for me to post it. Thank you for noticing.
