Level -> Where do you get your news? (8/6/2006 8:54:14 AM)

We have a lot of intelligent and articulate folks here at CollarMe, and as you all know, there are almost always lively discussions going on about the world. Where do you get your news/information? This can be from television, print, the internet, or the crystal ball your maw maw left to you in her will.

Any writers/talking heads you particulary trust/distrust?

From my dog, Sam.

Of course it takes some translation. (He only speaks Spanish.)

Lots to be learned here, cuddles, I agree. Always doublecheck what you see, though.

I read my hometown newspaper's web page every morning. As well as cnn, foxnews and slashdot.org.
as for talking heads, I despise Ann Coulter with a passion.

Yes Sir..[:D]

The nature of my job and the long commute leave me with the radio for the most part.  Drive-time talk gets me the headlines of the day and frequently chit-chats about the same topics I will see in these forums.  If something catches my interest, I'll let CNN/Fox run behind me while I do a search from home in the evening.

Edited to add that I'll pick up the local paper at lunch a couple times a week.

I have many means to inform myself....I enjoy watching the BBC World news on tv, as well as the Chilean tv which can be rather objective, which luckily I get on cable...I also read spanish and british newspapers online and such. Ocassionally I watch CNN, Fox very few times, I dont find them very balanced from my point of view.

SirKenin -> RE: Where do you get your news? (8/6/2006 9:48:35 AM)

I usually, but not always, get My news from print.  Generally the internet.

michaelGA2 -> RE: Where do you get your news? (8/6/2006 9:53:21 AM)

i don't...i avoid it as much as humanly possible....got enough problems to worry about

MistressLorelei -> RE: Where do you get your news? (8/6/2006 9:59:42 AM)

I get my news from everywhere.  I watch Msnbc and then force myself to watch Fox... same with radio.  I enjoy Air America (parts of it), but I do listen to Rush, The Factor, etc. on occasion till I turn them off in disgust.  I like to know what all sides are saying.

I read the mainstream newspaper, look at middle of the road sources on the internet, watch the local news, read books and other mdia, talk to others, etc.  If I observe a lot, but don't believe all of it, I think I can learn the most.

maybemaybenot -> RE: Where do you get your news? (8/6/2006 10:21:39 AM)

I'm like ML.. I read both Boston newspapers, one liberal one conservative, watch Fox and CNN, read BBC and CBC news online and LP.org. I also listen to a whole lot of talk radio, since my job has me in the car a good 4 hours a day. I like to read different perspectives on an issue and generally form my own opinion based on that.

I consider myself a Libertarian, so I don't have any allegiance to the mainstream Liberal or Conservative ideology.

Maybemaybenot, I like to listen to Howie Carr here in Myrtle Beach,SC on my computer. He really goes after those crooked bastard politicians up in Mass plus he's very funny and his show has a lot of interesting guests as well.
I read the Boston Herald online as well as the Globe and also CNN alot.
I watch Fox once in a while and like Bill O'Reilly, he used to be a Teacher and like him or not he really is a pretty intelligent guy!
I remember when he was a reporter in Boston and worked with Howie Carr. (I'm from Woburn, Mass origionally)
I like Hannity & Coombs (sp?) to get both sides of a political view.
I'm an investor so I also watch MSNBC a lot too.
And I LOVE Ann Coulter!
Can't you just see her tied over a kitchen table in high heels, stockings, black thong, garterbelt and gagged and ready for a big leather ass slapper?

Thank you for your answer, lovely lady [:)].

windchymes -> RE: Where do you get your news? (8/6/2006 11:40:17 AM)

Every morning, before I get up, I turn on the tv and watch the early morning news from one of the local Philadelphia network affiliates.  Also, car radio, my MSN homepage, and even in here sometimes, when someone posts a link that looks interesting.
