It is because of the Websters definition of punishment that he doesn't use it, it isn't precise enough for him to use in in our interactions.. here, let me post this:

Main Entry: pun·ish·ment
Pronunciation: 'p&-nish-m&nt
Function: noun
1 : the act of punishing
2 a : suffering, pain, or loss that serves as retribution b : a penalty inflicted on an offender through judicial procedure
3 : severe, rough, or disastrous treatment

There is nothing about learning in the definition is the reason I think that we do not use it.

Buddhist monks are often disciplined severely, they are learning to be disciplined. I guess because he has a lot of Eastern philosophies he feels this way.

I have to ask a question that is related to a thread in the Master forum

Are you disciplined or punished if you have done something "wrong" in your dynamic? Do you see a difference between being disciplined or being punished? If there is a difference, what is it in your mind? Im not going to put any of my own input on this at first, or maybe not at all, I am just curious.

Discipline is something that happens all the time, it is the teaching of what is expected within a relationship.   Punishment is a correction for a misdead and not something ever wanted.
