as with everyone else, we all make choices to do or not do, there are just some things that cannot be changed

You can just make it a hard limit. lol.

It seems there would be a lot of tougher things to change. However, asking someone to completely change their diet would be tough.  Your potential mistress asking you to add a few more healthy items to your diet, I think would be more feasible and maybe something you could manage.  You might even find you like things now that you didnt used to.

Just out of curiousity...when you say there are very few veggies you eat,....what is an average day for you Michael?  Say for breakfast lunch and dinner for example?

Im one who eats both meats/seafood and vegetables...lots of veggies.  So its hard from me to imagine not eating any at all. They contain so many nutrients that I think are needed in the body.  There are times when I notice a craving for something...a particular veggie and I figure it's my body telling me I need it.  What I need is a dom to whip my ass for picking up a jelly donut.  hee hee

> It is a shame that someone who would critque you for eating an animal would WEAR an animal,

see nothing wrong with vegetarians wearing leather shoes.  The purpose of being a vegetarian
is to lessen animal pain and suffering, and to lessen the number of animals killed for human
pleasure.  "Perfect" or "better" should not be the enemy of "good."  Don't let people convince
you to do less because perfection is not at hand.  Every step in the right direction is better
than every step in the wrong direction.   The fewer primates and mammals killed for our
pleasure the better.  It is better to kill one cow, than five cows.

If the purpose is to lessen animal pain, then why would it be ok to wear leather, but not eat the meat. The animal still died for your footwear....if you truly think that the animal should be allowed to live his life fully, then maybe you should come up with something else to make your shoes from.....oh and the whips and floggers and jackets.....After all, if its better to kill one cow, than five, then wouldn't it be better yet, to kill none?

I happen to be a vegetarian.  I have never felt the need to "force" this on a submissive.  I would of course, discuss my reasons
for being a vegetarian.  I would also use this as an area for us to learn about diet and food choices.   I would expect for us
both to learn and grow, and attempt to become healthier "together".

I have a bit of a query to put to all submissives/slaves and Doms/Dommes....

Subs/slaves: How would you react and feel about your Owner expecting you to join them in vegetarianism?

All in all I am curious to see what different people say about this topic as I haven't seen anything posted recently about anything close to it.

I'm afraid if my Domme required that we go strictly vegetarian, excluding among other things, Prime Rib and of course Rib Eye Steak, I would have no other available options but to shoot her.

I am confident state and federal law would back me up on this.

I actually have No problem with you requiring this....since you are actually requiring a diet that is not against any moral or ethical beliefs...and actually a vegetarian diet is healthier and less likely to casue health issues..

now if the sub were vegetarian...and you require then to not be..then this would be an issue.. since it would be against their moral beliefs

see the subtle difference?

Personally, I think major points like this should be discussed upfront. Since you chose not to disclose that you were a vegan, and that you prefer to remain such if your health allows, that in some ways he was not given the information needed to make the decision to be collared.  I really don't like people suddenly changing the rules and I think so doing can cause resentment.

What about saying that meals eaten at home will be according to your rules but if he goes out to lunch, then he can get what he wants? This will allow him some time to get used to a major change in diet and it will allow you to have your home as you wish.

"I don't think I would ever REALLY believe that forcing someone to restrict their diet would be the same as trying to force them to enter a faith based religion where I would compromise what they believed to be their eternal salvation. This is not something I would even consider, or would ever be an issue for me. So, I am a little put off by the comparison. "

I have to say, I agree with porcelaine and I don't think you should've been offended by that comparison. Because both do involve faith, personal beliefs, and personal morals/ethics. You are choosing that lifestyle because of your inner thoughts and beliefs, not because of health problems. And by forcing him to adopt that lifestyle, it's not that different from forcing him to adopt a religion. Imagine he was a Buddhist, and you told him he had to become a Christian. Follow the Christian holidays and go to church every Sunday. He'd do it because he loved you- not because it was from the heart.

Since he's debating about this, and doesn't want to give up seafood...

He's obviously not happy about it. I understand that it could be a problem for you later down the road, but...

*Subs have feelings too*- and in my opinion, feelings about personal beliefs should be equal in any relationship, even a D/s one. How would you feel if it was reversed and he was pressuring you to do something you were unhappy with?

I also agree with the previous poster when they asked about it being part of a previous agreement, and that it would be unfair to establish it since it wasn't agreed upon initially.

In conclusion, I really think you need to think more of *his* feelings and the way *he* feels- not just "how can I make him do what I want". If you love you, you need to look at it from other perspectives than "your royal Domme-liness".

My gut instinct is that that would be the end of the relationship. But I might be more flexible if actually confronted with the situation.

There is a Vegetarian (vegan?) in my monthly dinner group (I organize it and we eat at a different restaurant every month. Usually, about 16-20 people show up. It's fun). But anyway - she tends to sometimes spoil the dinner of the person she is seated next to if they are a meat lover. Just as there Prime Rib or T-bone is arriving, she will start to talk about her PETA membership, and do they really know how that meat they are intent on enjoying is actually processed?, etc.

I've talked to her about how this is mildly inappropriate (maybe she doesn't think so, but it's my dinner group, and it does make people uncomfortable) - but she still occasionally does this to other people.

Strangely enough, she is married to a guy who eats meat all the time (I can't imagine she married this guy knowing he is an avid meat-lover, but apparently they have overcome this "issue". Maybe he's just made it clear he is not changing for her, in that regard. It's his "hard limit", so to speak - even though these two are vanilla (I think they are vanilla. But maybe not. I can't tell, and it's intrigued me for a few months now).

~Fast Reply~

Any dominant who wanted to take the joy of a filet minion from me simply wouldn't be my dominant.

I don't eat meat often. I wouldn't mind if he placed a restriction on it, ie. "You've been a bad girl, no steak for you tonight" but to say no meat ever? No. And not just for taste reasons. I want to have children and that means I need to keep my body healthy. In order to maintain the intake all the right stuff to assist with that without eating some red meat is really just too hard to me to keep track off while trying to lose weight and get out of college.

That and never being able to eat my Dad's steak again? Cruel and unusual punishment...

Actually being veggie can cause health issues if not done right. If you are going to force a sub to be veggie then you have to be responsible for them getting all the supplements.
