-Bound with the collar fastened to the bed (even a prong/chocking collar).
-Hooded and gagged with inflatable gag.
-In very strict bondage (not much sleep).
-In very comfortable bondage (lot's of sleep).

I would do it again.

Status: offline 		I'd lean towards something that while not physically restricting (for safety reasons) might embarras a person if they went outside, i.e. collar, wrist cuffs (not locked together), etc.

A soft lined leather cuff, locked on to the ankle(the small padlock can attach a small chain) link this to the bedpost. use a babies potty(dont know the American word for it) for bathroom use.
Padlocks come with 2 keys. Keep one yourself hidden away.set the other in wax on a small chain around subbies neck. In emergency they can break the wax to get at the key.

Status: offline 		Well as the starter of the thread, I thought I would just share what direction I went on overnight bondage. I've installed custom cage in my bedroom, custom confinement cell in the basement (both with safety measures in place for emergency exits). If not caged, then I've taken to using a light rubber coated chain (keeps the noise down) with a locking ankle cuff (again, key readily available near by).... Have fun out there, and be safe! Status: offline 		I spend every night with my Mistress wearing my leather collar and attached by a chain to the bed from the ring in front. I've come to truly enjoy the feeling, and I know it'd feel odd if I weren't restrained that way. Some nights, and they're getting more frequent, I'm required to sleep in my hood (yes, the one in the photo). No eyeholes, which is great. If you wake up, you have no idea what time it is.

We're talking about purchasing a sleep sack, and will probably do so in the near future. I'm looking forward to that.

Status: offline 		elderrook does well in the hood and collar.The hood fits snuggly -latex -nose and mouth holes - so I don't worry much...but I do find myself being a lighter sleeper because of it. I notice if he stirs,but to be honest he actually sleeps in the same position most of the night.The fun part is having to guide him through the house to get to the bathroom.
I think he could do it alone now,but to be honest I enjoy him being dependent on me, his "seeing eye Domme"......lol

Silk scarves are about the worst possible choice for bondage, as they tend to spread the pressure unevenly. Definatley not a wise choice for overnight bondage.

That said, I think anyone considering overnight (rope) bondage should be very careful. Nerve damage can occur without warning awake - let alone while asleep. Also, don't use postions with any risk at positional asphyxiation. Know how to tie, and know the body of the person you tie really really well before you attempt this kind of bondage.

Status: offline 		wow lots of options for overnight bondage. I have done several of the things on the list. For us it is a matter of how much sleep do I need and where he is when I am bound. We like to think of ourselves as pretty safe and cautious. We use locking fur lined leather restraints, but to restrain the cuff to the chain that is attached to the bed we use panic snaps (i think that is what they are called) if you absolutely have to get out you just push up on a part of it to release the bondage. Of course it is a matter if you trust your sub or slave to obey and not get out just cause they want to. Panic snaps are a great way to get out of bed if you have to for an emergency. We have also used rope tied with a slipknot to the leather cuffs. Rope is so much more quiet and allows for freedom to move around if you need to, if your Dominant gives you slack. We have also done the closet/ cell before but for me I was lonely cause it didn't allow for the closeness of being in the bed did. We also did the chain to the ankles and ankle to the bedpost while I slept on a sleeping bag on the floor. Like others have posted there are so many variations.. It is really up to the Dominant of how creative they can become.

-Sleep sack - these are made from latex , rubber , Lycra spandex ,cotton or leather .The latex /rubber should be used with supervision as risk of dehydration or allergic reaction , the leather also can get quite warm .
-Medical restraints - Padded and hospital grade , also called humane restraints .Made for extended  bound time periods and still provide circulation .
-Vet wrap /gauze wraps - from the neck down  sleeping mummy  style  .
-Straight jacket - A well made  industrial grade straight jacket provides no escape and can be locked ,adding  medical ankle cuffs secures you for no midnight strolls .
A safety measure  can be a squeaker  toy  attached  to hand  to let the  person  know if your in need of  help during the night ,though i would not suggest an over night gag or air way restriction .
-Blindfolds - are a great addition for extended  stays  .

Status: offline 		Here's a fun one, not something you can do frequently, but it's effective as a nice treat, or punishment.

Lay a queen/king sized, thick blanket across the bed, have your subbie lay vertical on one side of the blanket and roll them across to wrap them in the blanket. Then tie loose rope around the neck, waist and ankles. Leave the entirety of the head exposed and if you want to be cruel, leave their feet exposed too. =D

They can not escape, it's warm and extremely comfortable for back or stomache sleeppers! Do not give them a pillow, it will hurt the neck. I sleep in this manner once a month or so, it's difficult if they like to fidget a lot. It's a bit much to set up if you just want to turn off the lights and sleep. XD

   Although I haven't done it myself, I'll try and take a crack at answering. It seems people sleep in overnight bondage not so much for sexual purposes, but more to enhance the D/s vibe. It shows that the power exchange doesn't end when you go to bed. Kind of like a permanant collar symbolizes that the dom is in charge all the time, overnight bondage does more or less the same thing.
    Of course, I'm sure there are some people for whom is it strictly sexual. There was a thread a while back about a mistress who was going to try overnight bondage to keep her slave from inadvertantly touching himself while he slept.

A domme friend and her sub husband uses a light chain to the nipple piercings and some form of cock or ball cuff (I remember her showing us on the grand tour but was still blinking a bit at some of the toys in the play room and do not recall details). The tri-fastened chain runs to an anchor at the center foot of the bed, and is long enough to allow him access to the en-suite master bath.

The chain is nothing you would use for bondage to take much weight, about the thickness of your average 1950s cheapo front door chain.

Rope can be tied in such a way that it does not tighten, and with loose restraint it is no more constricting than a collar. Perhaps I fail to see the danger?

Status: offline 		.I just used padded leather hobble cuffs. I don't particularly like getting clobbered with massive hardware when a girl is moving in her sleep. So these had a minumum of iron in them, and the d rings just had round braid leather between them. Takes a bit of time to make that-and I could never offer it commericialy. The fastener was just a small metal boss with a spring clip inside-that seated over a small stainless steel post. You released it by slipping a pick into a hole to push the end of the spring out of the slot. 

It was very smooth, and gave enough play to move and avoid cramps.  A ring was woven into the middle of each hobble. And I never got whapped upside the head with a buckle or a padlock. All I had to do was attach the rings to  straps that ran around the matress. I hate to be woken up just to let someone pee, so I just diapered her before we went to bed.
