The One who owns me is a 5th degree black belt in Ju Jitsu. The kanji He selected is the name His teacher gave Him many years ago. It took 12 strikes to complete, is roughly 5 inches squared, and is located on my left shoulder blade.
i was amazed that there was literally no pain for me.... ok, three instants of pain, but combined they would not fill a full second of time. There is another sensation that drove me crazy though.... the four letter word that is permanently etched in my mind about this experience... no not that four letter word... the word is ITCH!!! Did anyone else come up with something to soothe the itch?
i remember hearing about certain ashes that can be applied during the healing process to further impact the scarification process. The man who branded me said he had only heard of rubbing ashes into cuts, not brands. Can anyone tell me about ashes that can be used to enhance brand scars?

I was branded a little over a year ago. When the iron hit I remember reacting like i was in pain but I really can't remember if I was in pain or if it was just that I mentally expected pain. What I do remember is right after the branding there was absolutely no pain and wicked strong endorphins mixed with strong sexual arousal.
We also did a strike branding and purposely did it deeper than we had seen others (other brandings we had seen done were typically a quick flash branding, maybe about two or so seconds of a not hot enough in our estimation iron... that resulted in a brand that lasted barely a year) and everyones experiences differ but I definitely had the itching. I also had pain as the nerves grew back and the skin grew back.
Aloe vera gel or cocoa butter can help, but those will also speed up the healing. I wouldn't suggest putting ash or things like that in your brand to make it scar. What I did, but you have to be careful about doing was I waited until the entire design had scabbed and then I pulled up the scab in entirety. I was forbidden from picking at the scab besides that, because if you pick at the scab to much you'll fuck up the design - because as i'm sure you've noticed a strike brand blobs about three times bigger at least than the initial width of the iron. So if you pick at it to much you'll just destort the way the skin heals around the actual design and you'll end up with a bad looking brand. I found that with the healing it was a very delicate balance of treating it (appropriately) like a wound but also treating it as a wound that you don't want to entirely heal. But I would not at all suggest putting ashes in your brand.

Edited to add: I'd also reccomend not scratching it as much as possible, because you can also distort the design by doing so. What I would do was scratch the skin two inches away from the brand to distrct me.
